Actually, I think the ghost needs to shut up and they need to add dialogue for the player's Guardian. Our player is the only Guardian in the known world that does not talk and the ghost does every bit of the talking. They could easily add the dialogue for either a male or a female character. There are several games where you can choose a voice, male/female and some even have the option of American or British accents.
That was a big deal for me with all of the added cinematic and our character does not say one word.

I don't get it either. In the original vanilla Destiny your character talked but all the sudden now your character can't ?
-
I like it. Gives me halo feels
-
Agree with you, it is really annoying.

Someone has never played Legend of Zelda, have they?
-
We try to when we rescue Cayde, so I think the lore reason is that he beats us to the punch, and we're silently, telepathically, cursing out little Nolandroid as a result.
-
If I was in the game, the ghost wouldn't have survived the next five minutes because of that
-
I wholeheartedly agree

Become Legend....A mute Legend.

Silent nod....

Actually it is not impossible at all. The Guardian does not need to replace the ghost dialogue entirely just a little bit of interaction. Translation is not a big deal if they are currently translating the game anyway. And honestly, the cost to do that is very minimal compared to the real task of game development.

Edited by Voice of Riven: 9/11/2017 4:19:51 PMIt's pretty funny because in the campaign your guardian is about to speak and then your ghost cuts you off...seems like they're pretty clear they don't want the guardian to have a voice
-
I wanted to kill my ghost
-
I know. WHY IS SHE SO QUIET?
-
Yeah, our guardian is the all powerful hand puppet. bugs the shit outta me too. I dont like the ghost always talking for the #1 slayer of God's, finder of light. It down plays us and makes me wish I instead could be performing the actions of the vanguard instead. That'd be cooler mission design anways; an action cinematic smoothing into gameplay.

Yes! So true, I'm really getting sick and tired of it. It just makes our characters dumb mutes with no ideas of their own. All they do is what is asked of them. Unlike commander shepherd where he would make suggestions, make his own decisions and knew exactly what to do.
-
I guess years of playing Pokemon got me used to silent protagonists. I often to talk for my character even if they do speak so it doesn't get to me that much
-
It was so awkward when our guy reached for the ghost and didn't say anything.
-
The idea of the Guardian not talking is that your Guardian is you. Bungie doesnt put words in your mouth, you imagine what you would say in that situation. Youre not playing a defined character.
-
That's just laziness
-
Yeah, too bad we had a voice till Bungie took it. All the cut scenes they're so hard over look stupid when our dumbass guardians have the physical mannerisms of speaking but are silent while the jackass who rides in our backpack does all the talking.
-
It's hard to imagine that when in the vanilla Destiny, my character straight-up speaks.
-
It's hard to imagine that when in the vanilla Destiny, my character straight-up speaks.
This !!! It makes no sense going backwards. In original destiny you talked now in destiny 2 you don't. It's 2017 Bungie get with the times. So many RPG games give you multiple voices to choose from but apparently that's too hard to do for Destiny 2.

Not much though

When?
