I can understand and even somewhat relate to what you wrote. I use to appear offline all the time to play games and not have to worry about anybody "bothering" me when I just wanted to play something alone. I still have moments and sometimes days where I just don't want to deal with people, friend or stranger doesn't matter I just don't have it in me to keep up that acceptable social norm front sometimes. I can be a rough around the edges, mean, arrogant, cold hearted, apathetic prick sometimes and I know that can rub people the wrong way so I have to censor myself quite a bit to maintain any semblance of social relationships.
I know this and understand this about myself and most of my friends do to but I can still be tough be around sometimes if that makes sense. So there are times where yes I can play a game with people but seriously have absolutely zero desire to talk or interact with them on a personal or more social level. I did stop appearing offline though and just started telling everybody no I don't want to join the party I am just gonna play solo.
I also do get irritated sometimes when we will all hop in a party and end up talking nonsense about nothing truly important for an hour and a half before finally playing the game. Normally I am fine with it and enjoy it, i really do like talking and joking with friends but when you only have roughly 2 hours to play something I don't feel like losing over half that time not playing. I just started speaking up though and saying hey guys I only got like 2 hours can we get this thing going or what? Then we start playing and return to joking around once the game starts.
Basically I do understand and honestly didn't think there was a large portion of people that didn't understand why someone would want to play solo.
