Dude I beat every single raid encounter (except Oryx) with no mic. You've just gotta find a fireteam that's willing to give you a chance. And usually they're the better than the ones that boot you instantly if no mic.

I actually tried that for a while. they either quit and never came back. or as you said, just said no and booted or refused entry.
