Kinda pathetic, really......

I agree. The SPLC is rather pathetic nowadays.
-
"Alt-Right Deity" You can tell it was written by a 53 year old man just by that.
-
IOW, it was written by someone who doesn't think that something that happened 15 years ago is "ancient history". ...and has the life experience to understand this for the psychopathology-on-parade that it is.
-
Do you understand what the Kekistan meme is about? It's a fictional ethnicity created by people who hate identity politics in order to mock actual identity politics. They are hated by both the extreme left and the alt-right because they mock both equally. The SPLC is a spineless organization that says hate is everywhere, labeling CARTOON FROG memes hate symbols. They don't actually have any reason to label the Kekistan meme as hate besides the fact that they don't like being made fun of for their idiotic beliefs.
-
Sure.....
-
I'd recommend doing a little digging on the subject rather than simply taking the word of the SPLC, who happen to be fairly trigger happy on labeling things hate symbols, and calling it a day.
-
And I'd suggest a bit more life experience on your part. Some of the world's worst bigots claim to "hate identity politics". For the simple reason that they simply don't see their own tribal politics as "identity politics". If you want see a particularly comical example of this, go back and watch the video of Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearings. The image of four white male, Southern Republicans lecturing her on how she should interpret her own life experience was high comedy in terms of both its ignorance and its arrogance. Though I tip my hat to her. She suffered the fools with grace. Which is why she came away looking like the grownup in a room of overindulged children.

The SPLC claims that the meme is the creation of the alt-right (who wholeheartedly embrace and endorse identity politics). This is simply untrue. The meme is a parody of identity politics (very similar to how pastafarianism is a parody of religion) and it angers the alt-right as well as the extreme left. It was created by a man who is known to be vocally against the collectivist ideologies of the alt-right and the extreme left, instead advocating for individualism. He is hated by both sides of our hyperpartisan system. To say that this meme is a hate symbol is foolish.

In my experience, the people who complain the loudest about tribal politics are the people who hate everyone else's tribal politics......except theirs. Just like the people who bitch the loudest about "political correctness" are the people who resent being held responsible for making bigoted comments.
In my experience, the people who complain the loudest about tribal politics are the people who hate everyone else's tribal politics......except theirs.
This is silly. It is akin to someone saying that the people who are the most against racism are secretly the most racist people ever. The people who complain the most about the collectivist ideologies of the alt-right and the extreme left don't tote their own collectivist worldview. They are individualists and by this token, they find the idea of identity politics repulsive. Believe it or not, it is possible to recognize that the hyperpolarization of our political climate is a bad thing and also not contribute to it.
