There hasn't been a cap that has been found yet, and if there is one we don't know how ridiculous that cap might be. Keep in mind that this doesn't reset every week.
What I'm concerned about is how this will affect shaders. I'm already not okay with the current shader system but this just seals the deal on how crappy this system is. It's already an RNG grind to get the shaders you want through Bright Engrams but now it's going to take even longer as you play more and more.

But I think XP gains from public events and whatnot scales, too. Finished a heroic event earlier, earning a bright engram and 9.3k xp into next level (with medallion and rest bonus.)
