Destiny 2: Scholar of the First Sin

Having just completed the raid once through, I feel as if I am now knowledgeable enough to give my opinion on Destiny 2. If you couldn't tell from the title or don't know what SotFS is, let me explain: Dark Souls 2 re - released itself as Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, an updated edition with quality - of - life and graphics improvements. Bungie has done the same thing with Destiny 2, except they are charging full price. Here is a list of things that Dks2: SotFS did to improve from the base game: -New Enemies / Some changed enemy behaviors & placement -Expansion upon the story of the base game -Improved Graphics (& 60 FPS) -Improvements to PVP & Co - Op -New NPCs -More utilization of already - present mechanics (Torch mechanics, for instance) -New Gear -Various other minutiae Now, here is a list of changes that Destiny 2 made to the Destiny formula: -New enemy variations; No drastic differences to enemy behavior -Swept many components of the original story under the rug (The speaker, the darkness, etc.) -Improved Graphics & 60 FPS on PC -Improvements to PVP & Co - Op -NPCs now have scripted interactions outside of tower -Quality - of - life improvements -More class depth -New Gear -Various other minutiae Based on this, I believe that the 'Destiny 1.5' stigma is not only justified, but deserved. At least Dks2: SotFS admitted to being Dark Souls 2.5, and did not charge full price to upgrade to SotFS. I compare D2 to Dks2 because both tried to 'revamp' the game in similar ways, with a crucial difference being that effort and passion are both readily apparent in Dark Souls 2: SotFS; I wish I could say the same for Destiny 2. I REALLY wanted Destiny 2 to surpass this stigma, to be new and exciting, but it is so only on a superficial level. The issues of D1 that were easy to correct were fixed and very little of anything else was. If you have not bought this game yet, know this: You will enjoy this game very thoroughly for a while, but it suffers from many of the same pitfalls as the original, and then some. This game is NOT worth it and WILL NOT be worth it until it patches itself up with some DLC. If you have not bought this game, I implore you to hold off until the DLC has released and the price has dropped.
