Anybody else find it a bit ridiculous that we aren't allowed to play for 3-4 hours and lose some of the already-sparse game content because of a similarity to a falsely classified "hate symbol" that nobody even complained about?
It's as if Bungie is more concerned with winning points among that certain class of media personalities (the only people who seem to actually give a toss about this kind of thing) than winning them among its actual playerbase.
.
edit: I was lead to believe by Bungie tweets on the matter that items would be removed, however they were instead replaced... Pls no sue me 4 faek news kthx
Bungie are all liberals. What did you expect?

Hey man. The swastika is nothing but a Tibetan sun wheel. The symbol is thousands of years old and shows up around the globe meaning the symbol was common place even before humans migrated across the landbridge of Asia to the Americas. And in spit of it's ancient context, it is still immediately recognized globally as a symbol of hatred and bigotry... The origin of a symbol stops mattering when you allow that symbol to be coopted by a terrorist organization, rather it was a hate symbol original, it is one now. Sorry. That's how it works.
-
Yes. It's ridiculous. We've basically committed genocide against the Fallen, the Hive, Vex, and the Cabal and we are hailed as heroes, but we better not wear something resembling a joke.
-
They're back to orginal look minus the offending logo. Thank you Bungie for a proper fix.
-
The shitty thing is those armor pieces don't need to be removed or replaced, just the damn maps on the specific armor piece. I assumed this would be fixed in the latest update, it's a relatively simple change. Doesn't even affect the mesh, just the layout of the colors on the UV map. Come on Bungie, put an intern on it or something, that's my favorite armor set.

Bungie has a brand that it needs to protect...and made a common-sense business decision. End of story.
-
It's like people actively seek out something that will offend them, just to have something to be offended by. Seriously, these people need to get a life.

Edited by Archonate: 9/19/2017 11:50:31 PMI personally LOVED that it had the Kek symbol. It made me feel like Bungie is aware of current events and sides with reason and clear mindedness. Then they proved me wrong with this dramatic overreaction based on lies that some fun-hating bigots told them. Ultimately this is their game and I respect their caution. Though I'm strongly hoping Errant Knight and Road Complex sets aren't permanently marred. I liked the sets because they looked ninja. If all they do is remove the symbols, great. If they keep the bastardized half bred versions which they hastily patched with, I'll delete the sets and never look at them again.
-
kek is just an internet bastardization of "lol" as far as I knew
-
LOL a cartoon frog meme is a hate symbol? Liberals are hilarious.
-
I just wish they'd put some symbol or design on the set to replace the old one. The gauntlets are looking more like a long sleeve shirt with butter knives attached to the elbows.
-
It's a non-issue now. It's over. Why keep the topic going at all with this post. Go play the game now that you can.
-
I bet they leave the Kek emblem alone... Inspect my hunter or warlock.
-
To be honest I'd want anything related to 4chan removed from my game as well.

Edited by SSgt Carmine: 9/18/2017 11:57:07 PM2 questions: 1. What was the actual symbol? and 2. What were people saying it looked like? Edit: oh this is about kekistan? I thought that was done and over with since it's just a phrase and people shouldn't be upset by words that don't affect them.
-
I know some people on IRC were laughing about it before Bungie mentioned it so I'm pretty sure the complaint was a troll, and it seems to have worked.
-
I'm not very familiar with all this so I have a question. Is that Kekistan symbol or made up nation associated with a hate group? I've seen people commenting similar to what you are saying OP, that it's not a hate symbol and this whole thing is overblown, but I'm wondering if there really is a background here that links it to one of those white nationalist groups. I find it odd that Bungie would go out of their way to announce and remove it if there was really no tie at all but stranger things have happened.
-
Lol ya bungie this isn't politics, it's a video game, shouldn't care about what's socially correct. But in the end who cares
-
what is this "offensive symbol" everyone is talking about. i have seen some people saying that because of this symbol or whatever it is, a hunter chest piece doesn't look right. that's pretty much all i know of this. is the symbol really that offensive that they had to remove a hunter chest piece?
-
My biggest issue is that it affected another pair of Hunter Gear (Errant Knight 1.0) and caused that model to adopt the same scrubby hobo "fixed" look as the Road Complex gear. I take my Guardian swag VERY seriously. Laugh if you must, but once you get your high level gear, the next logical step is looking like the badass capable of taking down a sun-imploding war machine.
-
You didn't lose any content. They changed it and put it back. The amount of whining over misinformation on this forum is laughable.

bump..the policy makers can all pat each other on the back...
