Has anyone else noticed that the hand cannons don't make sense?

I love the hand cannons but my God have they made my head hurt trying to write this. I'm now going to make a sweeping statements that is true for most of the hand cannons in Destiny. The barrel doesn't line up with the round in the chamber that the hammer would strike. That was what first made me want to write this, but upon looking into it I found so many more niggling problems with the guns that this is now my fourth attempt at writing this. The guns in the games are obviously futuristic but the base concept for a revolver hasn't changed in 200 years and it's not going to make any ridiculous leaps in mechanics in 700 years that would make sense now. I mean the cartridge you load into the chamber has no marking for any primers for the firing pin to strike, and no effort has been made to even gesture at where the round comes out of the chamber, because the opening at the end of the chamber where the bullet should come out of is sealed. In the words of the Queen song: "I'm going slightly mad" And if you read this and you also get your mind blown by hand cannons, I'm sorry for ruining your day. If you can help my sanity with some possible theory of how it could work please do.

Well, the revolvers in the original Destiny game through out the first year were inspired heavily by the chiapa rhino, which actually does fire from the chamber in the bottom position as opposed to the top position. I've kinda come to the conclusion that the hand cannons are firing some kind of concussive energy pulse as opposed to an actual gas propelled projectile. But yeah, someone modded a rhino by having it anodized black and bronze in a familiar way. This is a real gun. How ever due to the physical limitations of how rhino's are designed, (their firing mechanism and trigger assembly specifically) unlike the ingame counter part, you cannot fanfire it. But yeah. Basically the hand cannon has been stylized to look like a revolver, probably by hunters who imagine them selves as space cowboys like Mal Renolds (Cayde especially...for obvious reasons) but the object you slide into the cylinder upon reloading is a battery, and the projectile it's self is a beam of kinetic energy.

    •
niggling
I learned a new word today. But seriously, I’m gonna go look at 3D models of HCs now. I’m genuinely curious. I never questioned the firing mechanisms of a futuristic space revolver.

It's not the only weapons that's weird, there's a twist on magazine for scouts( there was one for D1 too ). Not to mention holes in spots where fire mechanisms and the such should be. These aren't of the current conventional methods, about the only thing loaded with actual rounds is grenade launchers and rockets.

      • Hcs kinda suck for d2 man. I want ace of spades or some god damn hc with firefly. Sunshot isnt that accurate its nothing like the ace of spades, imago loop or fatebringer....it feels less powerful. Anything can kick ur ass in pvp ars, smg, pr and scouts. Dont get me wrong i can still get kills but they cant be used for competitive play. Im surprised nobody is talking about this yet. This game is not balanced at all atm.

      • You mean you can shoot someone in the head with an entire mag and they can turn around and kill you two shot. Yeah! We’ve noticed.

Underbarrel revolvers are a real thing. The barrel lines up with the chamber at the bottom of the cylinder, or 6 o'clock position. Google "Mateba 6 Unica" or the "Chiappa Rhino". There are other examples however, these are the first that come to mind.

        • Just pretend the guns don't fire using conventional firing methods, i.e gunpowder. It uses some sort of electro magnetism instead
