TL;DR -
Bungie, don't nerf MIDA. Give us better exotic weapons, and/or buff the ones we have now.

The gun is too perfectly balanced; every part of it - from the flinch, to the archetype itself - is especially well-rounded. It's a wholly frustrating weapon who sees more use than hardly anything else, if you disregard Uriel's. I hate it!
That's what I used to think.
I was extremely lazy and actually never did the MIDA quest until yesterday in the afternoon. So, with me not having the weapon myself, it was very easy to immediately join the hagglers and... well, haggle. Once I got the weapon, I slapped that sucker on and was finally ready to join the "meta".
However, match after match I began to notice a pattern - my performance overall?
It was going down.
The moment I equipped my Midnight scout rifle, I was back to my usual efficiency rating of ~2.3-4+.
It may just be me and my lackluster Crucible capabilities, but I don't think MIDA is an issue in the way a lot of us are thinking it is. MIDA isn't a gigantic problem - an elephant in the room, if you would - because it's too strong. Rather, MIDA is an anomaly amidst a loot table of overwhelmingly average exotic weapons. MIDA has maintained its status as an exotic scout rifle with a delightful bark and a damn mean bite from Destiny 1, and this alone alienates the weapon from the rest of the pack.
Edits, m'dudes:
Edit 1: I was expecting a bit of misunderstanding with the comments due to my wonderful attempt at clickbait, so no surprises there. Very glad you guys are understanding what I'm saying and are being outspoken about some of the seemingly less-popular opinions. Let's prevent the death of a great gun! I don't care if it's by clogging up their forums or being the squeaky wheel on Reddit or what-have-you; don't let a BEAUTIFUL Destiny 1 relic be demolished in this new age by the whining minority!
Edit 2: So many downvotes because of the title. I think I'll keep it, though; it seems to keep the trolls away. That which would ensue only chaos and distaste is wholly unnecessary and to it, I say - good riddance!
Edit 3: Moved the TL;DR to the top to compensate for my stubbornness. I have to chuckle at the impulse downvotes by those who don't read!
Edit 4: I have caved! Title has been changed a bit to accommodate the legitimacy of the post. Thanks all for your input, and thanks for the random downvotes. ;D
Honestly, they should have left MIDA behind.

The numbers don't lie. It's been top 5 in Crucible kills since Taken King for a reason because it's better than most any other primary/kinetic weapon at all ranges. Everything about it gives it an advantage. There isn't a single other weapon that comes close to MIDA's overall stats and what it brings to the table. Here's several: - 100 Aim assist. Headshots galore. - 100 Recoil direction. Follow up headshots made easier. - 100 Weapon handling. Quick swap, ready, stow. This weapon does it. - 100 Reload speed with 16 in the magazine. - Bonus agility. Strafing and movement are key to winning 1v1 and running for cover when you need to. - Range that consistently competes with long range scout rifles. - High Caliber Rounds that creates massive flinch. - Radar while ADS making hardscoping and getting the first shot in less of a risk from being flanked. - Highlights enemy targets making seeing enemy targets even easier. People are getting in an argument over semantics with this weapon. Is it overpowered or just overused? The truth is that it is overused because it is overpowered relative to every other weapon in Destiny. There isn't another weapon that brings more to the table and has reliably proven how good it is in all things. Just look at that list. Name one other weapon that has all that in one package. It really is deserving of the title Multi-Tool.
-
The gun is overused, makes pvp boring, but a quick tip, Last hope > Mida.
-
Honest ... They should have never put it in D2.
-
MIDA has too much in its arsenal. It’s features are so great that it will always beat out other weapons. The only time another weapon can beat MIDA is if it’s ttk is lower than MIDA. So far though this isn’t the case. I’d recommend modifying HCR on MIDA so that it only works in PvE. The gun will still be the best at handling, radar, and agility.
-
I don't despise the gun, just how stale it's making pvp feel largely because it's all I see
-
I wanted to kill myself, but then the whole entire enemy team suggested that it mida been a bad idea to try in the first place.
-
I just don't get how people aren't bored to tears using the MIDA all the time.
-
You know what I wish they'd change about the MIDA? The sound clip. I'm tired of hearing the same "plop, plop, plop" sound from 7 people around me.
-
Edited by Radahn: 9/27/2017 10:52:08 AMMIDA SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN DESTINY 2...PERIOD.
-
I'm kind of glad everyone uses it. It's not op so it's easy to counter. People tend to try and stay far with it but if you rush them properly, you can easily take em out.
-
People complaining about MIDA is an issue
-
Remove hcr. It has too much in its arsenal for one weapon. Hcr is what makes it unbalanced. Remove it and you will see other weapons get used.
-
Nothing is wrong with the Mida. Bungie simply needs to turn off high cal rounds on everything right when you enter crucible
-
EVERYBODY STOP THE FORUM THIS IS GROUNDBREAKING! Are you telling me you did some research of your own, found out you were for lack of a better word, wrong, and proceed to admit it affirming your former opponents points of argument?!?!?! I don't think this has ever happend before.. you win guardian, GG.
-
Try the new monarchy scout its like chaos dogma thing wrecks but make sure you got a lot of range down a lane
-
34% of players use it in trials, and all the other guns are used by 20% less
-
Edited by Ravn_21: 9/27/2017 6:45:10 PMNameless Midnight causes more flinch than Mida does, people just don't have an easy quest to do that gives it out 100% of the time like Mida.
-
Edited by Valkenr: 9/27/2017 8:43:59 PMI'm currently using MIDA because it dropped 10 power above me. I'm about to eat it into my Nameless Midnight. It seems to have poor range and damage dropoff. I saw a significant increase in TTK in PvE when I started using MIDA. I also recently spanked a team in clash 61/24 all using MIDA/mini loadouts. (I was using Nightshade/Sunshot) I really don't see all the outrage, the one instance is when you have a full team spamming MIDAs and focus firing. But that's more of an issue with low-thought PvP, and the result of pandering to a larger audience. Its real easy to be careful. Get a sword, corner look, and don't be caught in the open.
-
there are many purple weapons that are better than mida, and mida is an exotic. there are better long range weapons and better close range weapons.
-
Anyone can get it, so I say we are all on even ground and it should be left alone . Not to mention that at the range they are intended for , an auto rifle will tear a Mida user a new one. Worse with a Sub machine gun at its intended range.
-
High calibur rounds is the majority of the problem imo, and it's not just mida that makes it an issue. Also as if snipers didn't have it bad enough getting crippling seizures while being hit in ADS, this makes them practically unusable If you can't get the opening shot. That's right, your so-called power weapon that excels in long range will probably be beaten out by primary fire. You're dead unless you get lucky. Mida, and scouts in general also promote this campy team shot gameplay pretty well, can't blame anyone for using what works.
-
Mida multi tool is a symptom of the larger problem. The gun itself is fine. The problem is the high ttk. Which encourages teamshots, which encourage scout rifle use, which encourages mida use. There is nothing wrong with the mida itself.
-
Personally I think Mida is fine all they need to do is get rid of the radar delay after ADSing on all the other weapons.
-
I'll start by saying that I love Scout and Pulse rifles. I play the distance game. I used the MIDA heavily in D1 and will continue to use that and my Nightshade in D2. Now, I totally agree with your TL;DR. I don't want Bungie to bring the MIDA down. I want them to lift other weapon types up.
-
Same gun as it has always been...player friendly. If you find yourself complaining about it being OP, your gameplay is really UP.
