Destiny 2, No more grinding for????

First let me begin by explain who I am. I religiously played D1, I have well over 2000 hours invested, I've been around since the beginning. Liked vanilla, it needed work but they were headed in a good direction. Year 3 was great!! The issue: instead of building off that they wiped and gave us a worse version of vanilla. This post isn't for: self-righteous retorts. People who play a few hours a week. This post is for: reasonable retorts and points. Not personal attacks that make you look like a internet creeper. Remember I'm pissed because I loved Destiny These are my opinions and the opinion of many players I've spoken with and many I play with. These are not made up outspoken things. Theses are real concerns and if you don't buy it. Complete your millstones and tell me what you spend your time doing. Tell me what awesome piece of gear or weapon your grinding for and where it's grinded for ( like fate ringer or black hammer). Tell me what was your moment of triumph was this week and what awesome weapon did you finally get for it? Bungie has broken its promises and fooled many of us to invest hard earned money into a new game which feels worse the D1 vanilla. Bungie fails to realize that we the hardcore player, the hardcore community is whats keeping their game alive and has kept their game alive during the hard times. Not the 90% the 10%. The 90% plays to chase what the 10% has and since everyone has everything and all gear is the same its destroying the very fundamentals of what DESTINY IS ABOUT....THE CHASE....The Triumph...The Glory...The Bond between players when they overcome the obstacles and get or do not get what they wanted. Then do it all over again....together (THIS DOES NOT EXSIST IN THIS DESTINY 2) The game has no magic, no mystery and no hunt. Here's whats missing. All gear is created equal. No matter what gear you get its the same. There are no real GEAR perks, with ammo increases, super energy on grenade kills (etc), no raid perks from raid gear, no raid weapon perks from raid weapons. There are no white whale weapons or gear to chase with real luster and most exotic gear is not really exotic (its common). THE GAME NAME SHOULD BE CHANGED TO "PUBLIC EVENTS" come and kill an easy boss with me... There is no endgame. Daily heroic missions, quests, dead ghosts(or something that is similar), gimmore score (or something similar), hidden quest or missions, bounties (daily, weekly, monthly). Theres only a few game achievements. All the things that created urgency, mystery and magic has been removed in order to not hurt the common players feelings (its a nerfed world). And a world that is nerfed is a world without consequences (a world without meaning). Its nothing more then a glorified "Call of duty". And if you don't think so.....give a week or 2. There is no character customization. You can't even customize your super to your play style. Its a sad thing when someone tears up a winning ticket in hopes the will win bigger with the next one. Half the exotic gear in Destiny 2 is Destiny 1's exotic gear just less impressive. Just like the supers and subclasses (less impressive). The whole game is LESS IMPRESSIVE. Nothing to work towards, nothing to earn, nothing gain, no reputation....nothing. Its a long winded campaign with a crappy story. And a game a CHILD can play and end up where hardcore players end up....at the end of nothing with everything in hand and nothing to do. Is this the end of Destiny's community. The community that gave us parody videos and songs. The community that got together and raised money for a children hospital. It could be....you literally need to learn NOTHING from you tubers and steamers to get everything. I've seen thousands of these concerns and I haven't seen a single response from bungie. WHY BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN ANYWAY??? We're your loyal fans not just a troll with a grudge. I ask you this bungie....How could you do this to us? Your loyal fans base. The same people that kept destiny alive during the hard times and are giving you jobs and loyally follow your game because you listened to us AND GAVE US WHAT WE CRAVED....LOOT, CONTENT, OBSTACLES AND TRIUMPH . NOT A BLAND BEIGE WORLD WITH NOT MEANING AND NO EXPECTATIONS. And now you turned a deaf ear and for what...I don't understand. PLEASE TELL ME. Everyone I've played with for years is pissed and I've defended you long enough. I can't mention this in a raid group without every single person piling on... I would like to see at a minimum: Hidden quests Daily bounties (with hidden exciting bounties) Dead ghost or least being able to collect the scannable' s for rep. Reputation score ( it seems silly but people like knowing their level) Bring back something like gimmore. Raid gear that helps in the raid. Hidden sectors that are more like a mini nightfall. And of course the bungie flare. The mystery the magic of an unknown being out there. At a minimun. Please tell me the destiny I know and love isn't dead. Don't be mad or high strung...work with us like you did before and let's MAKE DESTINY GREAT AGAIN!!!! • Totally agree, I'm an average player, had over 2600 hrs in d1, liked year 1 and y3 was great, played striker almost the whole time except for the short time before sun breaker was near fed, put up with winne hunters, but d2 is unbareable, nothing to grind for, wish I had not purchased the expansions -- looking for next shooter.

  • Totally agree! I'm not motivated to play D2 like I was D1. I too have over 2,200 hours in D1. Now, D2 feels like all I have to do are my milestones and I'm done until the next week. I don't enjoy crucible, I don't enjoy nightfalls, I don't enjoy the raid. I play Destiny to unwind from the everyday stresses. Nightfall feels like I'm going to work. What is left is doing the same adventures over and over again, public events, meditations, and patrols (which don't really offer any rewards, just rep.). All of my characters are around 304 and I'm quickly losing interest. I don't really care if I've collected all exotics anymore because I have no way to tracking what I have or what I don't have. I miss grinding for grimoire. I know this didn't do any to further my characters but it did give me something extra to do. I miss the hunt for dead ghost, calcified fragments, & siva fragments I can't stand that I can't select which crucible mode I want to play. This 4v4 team shot isn't fun as a solo player. I hope Bungie recognizes these problems and has plans to improve things in the near future because I'm bored with D2 already.

  • My main concern is that they removed rolls from weapons. Grinding for god rolls was something many people invested a lot of time in. Without rolls it makes the already shallow loot pool feel even smaller as once you get a gun then everytime you get it again its an auto delete. At least in D1 even if you got a duplicate you had to inspect it to see if it had a better roll than your current one

  • Top comment. Bravo.. hopefully bungie may listen to you(us). This in a big nutshell is what is missing in d2. That and the rng based drops. I miss waiting 6 months for a gally to drop.

      • Destiny 2 is in a good spot from my perspective. I stopped playing D1 because logging onto it constantly and the grinding felt like a job. My Destiny 2 experience has been fun. No more stressing a “god roll” so I can compete in pvp, hours grinding for materials and no confusing economy. I really hope Bungie sticks to their plan here and doesn’t go back to D1. The only people I see complaining right now are the people that somehow enjoy endlessly grinding, that somehow want a game to feel like a job... Public events are better, there is more to do in this base game too...what DOESN’T it have that D1 base game did? If you are bored play other games. Go outside even. I’m glad that I can enjoy other titles AND enjoy Destiny 2. It’s exactly the lifestyle change I wanted in the first game. Glad Bungie heard people when they built D2.

        • I totally agree, I can't stand the changes for D2. However, Destiny really only listens to its Streamers because they are basically the unpaid salesmen for Bungo. They promote the game and get everyone hyped to play and buy the DLC content. Whenever they complain, they will finally fix it. Yet Streamers are so dick hard about getting money from streaming and YouTube doesn't pay for shiz now, they have to worship the game to keep views and sub count up. It's a huge circle jerk that only makes D2 a worse experience. Streamers are a cancer to the gaming community.

          • For all those that think Bungie will make some improvement in play between now and the next DLC? Seriously?, Did they ever do it in D1? No. What you have is what you get. Get use to it. Don't like it? move on.

          • The exotics do suck really bad! When it comes to mobility, resilience and recovery... recovery is the only one worth getting cause the others don't give you any added perks, you don't really get that much faster or that much resilient, your recovery gets a tad bit better... The weapons are pretty much all the same with hand cannons a fukn joke, exotics are legendaries with legendaries better then exotics? Wtf bungie! Your pvp'n destiny into extinction! Stop making all the new players feel like they've been playing for years, they haven't, they need to practice. From doing that (making new players feel rite at home) you've made the game boring for us diehards! Strikes aren't worth the time, no loot worth grinding for. One raid? 1 raid! 1 fukn raid!!! Omg... Even the faction wars are capped at 30, like wtf bungie? Who's stupid idea was Destiny 2... It was a $$$ idea for you to make more money for a new game? You nerfed all the good things worth playing in Destiny 1 and didn't add them to Destiny 2. I think you did it on purpose so you can slowly add what we want by adding what the game needs by dlc, to dlc so you can keep leeching money from us... you gave yourself job security thinking that "we'll let them complain and give them a little of what they want in the first dlc", "then when they catch on we'll give them jus a little more of what they need in the game in the 2nd dlc" Well, we caught on to your act for more $$$. If we wanted a pvp game we'll go to CoD, give us what D1 had and more for D2 or you'll lose us forever and next time you speak promises and future content, it will be on deaf ears. #AddMoreContent #AddMoreEnemies #AddBetterAndMoreGuns #StopFocusingOnlyOnPvp #WhatsThePointOfPlayingAfterYouBeatTheCampaign #ExpandTheDestinyUniverse #FirstWaveWeapons #YourLosingUs...Forever #Feedback #CommunityBasedFeedback

            • Completely agree with you. I've only be playing since House of Wolves times but that is plenty enough time to realize how bland D2 really is. When I completed the raids first time in D1 it really felt like I accomplished something and when I completed the new raid a few days go I was like 'Oh we did it... Great...' As you say, seeing some raid gear that gives you perks for the raid, trials gear that gives you perks for trials would be great, but it just isn't there. There is some hope however for the prestige raid gear which could possibly, and I hope will, have some perks but you have really explained everything that I hoped would be in D2 and just isn't and I hope Bungie are reading these and will hopefully change this in future.

Omfg wow. You took all the words right out of my mouth. You absolutely nailed it!!!!! The mystery is completely GONE GONE GONE!!!! The darkness from destiny is GONE literally. I remember going to the forgotten shores down to Rasputin’s bunker door and seeing the knights there guarding the door and wondering what the hell was in there. Destiny 1 has so much darkness and mystery and it’s all GONE in Destiny 2. The game we all loved isn’t there anymore. Destiny 2 is something completely different it’s not Destiny like we knew it the past 3 years. They completely remade the whole game for casual players. You literally get on do your milestones for 2 or 3 hours and that’s it you’re done for the week. Why Bungie thought this was a good idea I will never know. The destiny we all loved is completely gone.

            • I have about 2500 hours, and I say (with some qualification) that Destiny 2 is a worthy successor to Destiny 1. Adventures and dungeons have been added, though replayability on all missions would be welcome (as meditations). Public events are accessible, and a matchmaking system exists for Nightfalls and raids (might need some work, but all new things do). The raid, tough as I found it, is a worthy addition to the four great raids that came before. I will admit that PvP has suffered, thanks largely to the type of player they're trying to please. The elimination of "god roll" guns removes luck from the equation, and the ruination of special weapons removes guile and strategy. It's now a contest of speed and reflexes, and the only strategy involves putting lots of guns on the target. I was not expecting a Crucible that I liked, though: I was aware that Bungie ruined D1's PvP to get us ready for D2's... that's hardly a good sign. My other chief complaint actually comes as a backhanded compliment. Our silent Guardian worked in Taken King because we saw him so little. It was a negative in "Rise of Iron" because the game was starting to develop a plot. And because we had a really decent plot in Destiny 2, having a mute protagonist really didn't work. He was just a mass of negative space in each cutscene, draining them of energy. In vanilla, when the Guardian and Ghost had their conversation ("No... little light." - "Don't do that.") we saw the potential for a really cool dynamic between the two. But, that never developed. Most notable, and the reason I took a chance on buying the game despite severe reservations (one of the videos on my YouTube channel expresses this), was the difference between the beta I played and the PC version. Supers were recharging at a faster rate, guns did increased damage, and the worst concerns had been addressed. I knew that just as a game could be ruined by tweaking, it could also be restored, and that was what I saw happening. Destiny 2 begins in a good place, and I believe it will improve further over time.

              • Actually if you step back and look at it for what it is as a stand alone game.. it’s pretty impressive. Not as impressive as D1 after 3 years of fine tuning but the potential here is far greater. Don’t judge the book by its cover. Give it some time.. business is money, they won’t allow cost without a plan. Let it unfold before you cement your verdict.

I never once thought we would lose meaningful gear, high end rewards, faction levels and so much more!

                  • I too am waiting for bungie to answer any of these questions. Is this the future of destiny? Did bungie just give the middle finger to there hard core players? Only option we as players have is to not purchase dlc. Atleast until we hear something from bungie. My best guess is they wont say anything, they care about $$$, not us. They screwed me out of $60 on game, $40 in silver.... $15 for Harvey relief, though I wish I could have just donated the other $100 to Harvey as well.

                  • People are comparing the first 3 weeks of destiny 2 to the 3 years of dlc that was released in destiny 1. wait every game franchise has the first game that is great over time then they release the next one and start the cycle over again. look at cod. they release a game with 8 maps that ends with like 18. then release the next one with 8 maps again. complaining that destiny 2 doesnt compare to destiny 1 after 3 years is absurd

                      • It's weird how people who defended Bungie for cutting launch content and repackaging it as DLC for extra bucks in D1 haven't noticed that's exactly what's happened in D2. 1.Give shit game at launch 2. Sell quality of life improvements already created and ready to go as DLC you drip feed (vault space, gear, UI, maps) 3. Get shills on the forums to derail any consensus of how much of a scam this game is by inferring that time spent playing=money's worth

                        • As a self righteous lover of Destiny you should understand that we are at the three weeks after launch phase of a new game. We already have a monthly event in faction rallies, a prestige nightfall, and a somewhat challenging raid. I think Bungie understands that people in general don't want a 20 hour a week job in a video game just to keep up with everyone else. I have had so many friends that don't. Necessarily keep up with Destiny on a week to week basis, see everyone is playing it again after an update/DLC, buy it to join in with the fun, and then get completely turned off based on the grind that it takes just to be accepted into the activities their friends are doing let alone help them progress. I think Destiny 2 is in a good spot right now and it Destiny feel like it's the only game that I need to play. For a majority of players that is a breath of fresh air.

                          • The game hasn't even been out a month yet. They will add things with updates. We still have iron banner that's coming and who knows what else. The game has barely had time to breathe. The problem is that everyone and their brothers rush through the game to get to the end and then rush through all that too. I still have a couple milestones to finish this week and I'm in no rush to get them done. I have a whole week to do it. I'll probably try and do the raid this weekend along with more trials. Give the damn game some time before you just call it dead. It's way to early for any of this stuff to be talked about.

Whether it was finding the god rolls on weapons or armor with perks I like for pve and PvP there is no grind in here they ruined the best part of destiny for ppl that don't like the game enough to make time to play the game and do the grind. I'm not saying add more grind on top of the old grind for the true dedicated players but you shouldn't only cater to those who could care less bout making time to play longer then an hr or so a day
