Part 6 of my crossover of Legend Untold and OverLordTitan’s Frontier series
My mind drifted in the calm dark, anchored to consciousness by my Ghost even without my body. You should be able to bring me back in a moment, right Spark? I transmitted my thoughts to my companion.
Yes, without problem, his answer came from the surrounding depths, You should see what's going on out here.
Shut up and don't get killed, I dismissed him. Then I waited; time here always seemed stretched and torturous compared to when alive.
You’re safe Orion, a voice split through the silence, accompanied with a warm surge of Light that faded with the ringing words. I could've sworn it sounded like William.
Spark, what the heck was that? I questioned my Ghost.
What? Spark's mind responded.
That voice, I answered.
Did you have a vision? Spark checked.
No, I was growing irritated, Don't play games with me.
I'm not. Buckle up, Spark warned, and then with a flash of warmth and Light I found myself breathing again.
The sounds of gunfire and Fallen roaring slapped my ears as my surroundings came into focus and I pushed myself up. To my surprise, everything around me was cast in purple Light, and after a moment I found William glancing back at me from the edge of the Ward of Dawn. Flashes of Scorch blasts and arc bolts collided with the Ward without break, the Fallen too crazed to realize that they were wasting their time on an unbreakable barrier.
"You're not gonna believe this one," Spark floated in my face for a moment before vanishing.
"Did another Guardian miraculously swoop in to save the day?" I questioned my company.
"No, I did this," William answered calmly, as if it made perfect sense.
"But you're a Warlock!" I exclaimed.
"I was a Titan first," William stuck his scout rifle nozzle out of the Ward and began dropping Fallen, "Now I am both and neither."
"Any other surprises?" I sighed, pulling out my sniper rifle and joining William at the Ward's edge.
"Too many to list," the other Guardian laughed, "Keep the Fallen out of the Ward, I need to take that Skiff down."
Without waiting for a response, William replaced his rifle with a rocket launcher and leapt up high above the Ward. He floated for a moment at the peak of his ascent and took aim, then fired off the rocket and fell back into the protective sphere. The explosion against the Skiff's head made it list to the side, and the next explosion- this one from the inside of the ship -marked the beginning of its downward fall. A couple Fallen were crushed under the Skiff, and the others around it were flushed out of cover. Each of them began shrieking their anger, and the rest joined in as the entirety of the remaining Fallen charged past Rasis towards our position.
"I'll stir them up a bit," William patted his rocket launcher, "You get through whatever's left in your way and take down Rasis. I'll keep the rest off your back."
"Just don't shoot me," I joked.
William kicked off of the ground again, propelling himself above the award with his Light and firing two rockets into the cluster of Fallen. As their charge shattered under the blasts of the rockets, I dove out of the Ward with Bladedancer illuminating my form. Few Fallen were left standing in my way or able to intercept me, but they soon joined their dead comrades. Bullets began flying over my shoulders and making Fallen skulls burst open in a spray of ether, keeping my path towards Rasis relatively clear. The towering Archon roared defiantly at me and began firing wildly, some of the shots not even coming close enough to warrant dodging.
One of my arc blades slashed the barrel of the Scorch Cannon open, but before the other could make it to has throat I was swatted out of the air like a fly. I stuck the landing, but was granted no time to prepare for another attack as Rasis discarded his weapon and began swinging wildly at me. He managed to catch me after a few swings, making me grunt under the impact of the metal arm that scraped across my armor. I stumbled back into a Vandal that had been coming up behind me, but it fell to William before I could even turn around. Shouting fiercely, I dove under the next punch from Rasis and slashed his calf. Radiolaria leaked out of the wound, but Rasis turned as if the cut was nothing, spastic arms seeking his opponent mindlessly. I sidestepped a couple swings and even managed to cut one of his forearms, but again he was oblivious to the pain and his unpredictable movements lead to me getting knocked onto my back. Rasis kicked me across the ground like a toy and stalked after me, growling something about hunting and changing. I started to push myself up, but hit the ground again with a sickening crunch as Rasis pounded me with all four arms. Bladedancer faded away as I gasped for air, struggling to divert Light into healing me, but Rasis stomped on me, making me cry out in pain. The Archon picked me up by the head and held me level with his red eyes, again speaking in his native tongue, "You face your greatest opponent, and also your last, weak Light."
"I…have felled greater than you," I hissed as my ribs finally realigned, then stabbed my knife through one of his eyes. Rasis roared in my face with anger, but didn't even flinch from the stab. I yanked the blade out and went for his throat, but Rasis threw me to the ground.
Body broken and Light struggling to keep up with the damage, I looked up to the monstrosity that stood over me. "I will steal the fight from you, and then I will steal your body," Rasis growled at me again, then reached down for my neck. Before his clawed, steely grasp could close in, he was sent stumbling backwards by a flying blur of blue and gold.
William had leapt into the Fallen shoulder-first, and landed on his feet between me and the Archon. Rasis roared at William, but was answered with a phrase in Eliksni that sounded like a robotic version of William's voice and seemed to come out of a speaker in his helmet. "All that will be stolen today is your existence from its lost body," the translated William voice said. That only seemed to make Rasis angrier, and he lunged at the small Guardian. William was quick, and planted a punch on the Corrupted Archon's wounded shin that made him stumble. Circling back in front of Rasis before he could straighten back up, William slammed his fist across the Fallen's face with enough force to chip the metal and create a solid snapping sound. As Rasis reeled from the blow, I got back to my feet with a refreshed body and threw a knife square into the disgraced Archon's skull. Rasis pulled it out as he steadied himself, no ether spraying out with the trickle of radiolaria. This Fallen wouldn't die of a skull puncture like he should.
William was backing off of the huge Fallen now and shooting rapidly with his shotgun, peppering the metal coating of the creature. It had little effect and Rasis charged, finally landing a hit on William and then spotting me again. I pumped sniper rounds into his helm, making his head bounce back a bit with each impact but not slowing his approach. Thankfully, William came back up from behind with a Shock Blade on each hand. He lobbed off one of the right hands of Rasis and slashed his back before he had to hop backwards away from a sweeping blow. Now I attacked from behind, leaping onto the Archon's back. Rasis growled and reached to grab me, splattering some Mind Fluid from his severed hand onto me, but he was unable to get a hold before William stabbed both swords into his stomach.
Finally showing pain in a screech of genuine agony, Rasis hit William away, but sank to his knees with the two swords still in his abdomen. Managing enough Light for a single arc blade, I plunged the glowing dagger into the Archon's neck and carved around it. With a gurgled hiss, Rasis tipped over onto his side, sending me rolling. Rasis, the Corrupted Archon, was dead.
