this was originally a thread about PC users getting banned for no reason at launch, just like they did in the beta; i made a post back then to say that people were getting banned unfairly with the new anti-cheat system, i was told i was wrong - - cozmo has returned to re-affirm he stands in the same place as before
this thread is now being used to advocate a bungie response to much bigger problems, with much more support; i feel cozmo only replied to this thread because it was personal to him; old post in question :

The truth is out there, people are getting banned for using legitimate software which happens to be incompatible with D2, and Cosmo claimed "you aren't getting banned just for running them". Destiny 2 is an objectively crappy game just as Great Value is an objectively crappy brand. Just cuz a bunch of people still use the product, that doesn't make it good. That's cool and all that you and your group of soccer dads are still having fun running around missing headshots on aliens, but for millions of us who have spent a lot of time and money on this franchise, Bungie needs to know how let down and mislead we have been.

1 ReplySince the complaints about being banned are only in the thousands and not the millions, I am betting that those thousands of players were running software that they were not supposed to and got nailed for it.

No. I don't. Because it never happened. I read the post. Turns out you ARE a liar, but Cosmo never called you one. He didn't address you at all. He just said this information is not accurate. As far as we can tell, that information was not accurate. Bungie says the bans are not the result of benign third party programs like dischord. People are being banned because they're trying to cheat. People seem to think this isn't possible because so many have been banned. These same people have apparenly never played a pc game in their life. Every pc game is literally infested with cheaters. Every time they get banned it's all "nuh uh, not me." This all fits perfectly within my expectations of D2 on pc. Nothing to see here.

He didn't lie. It sounds like what he's saying is that, yes, there are clearly issues with running other applications with Destiny 2. [i]But,[/i] in terms of the game system itself, it technically isn't a ban. "Ban" would imply that you were specifically banned from the system for cheating or bad behavior. So no, you can't blame him for attempting to put out the flames before people start thinking that Bungie [i]banned[/i] (see explanation above) all those players that are having technical difficulties. -

While I don’t agree with unfair bans, I don’t believe bungie should be considered liars. There are guidelines/restrictions set in place to limit the idea of cheating/exploitation and while some applications may be causing these occurrences inadvertently, which is a possibility and if so it must be corrected first and foremost, I do believe that there is more to each story than is being told.

Well he is just a community manager, I highly doubt he knows what the code says. Though it does seem like something you should ask the people that do know what it is before commenting. Anywho, we have seen multiple times now that even the community managers are left in the dark about information. It seems like Bungie not only lacks communication to the community but even in it's own company.

Not certain that calling someone a liar, and saying a statement is untrue is unequivocally the same. It is possible for a false statement to be made due to ignorance, and not an intentional deception. However, you still get a check in the win box. Kudos.
