Since the complaints about being banned are only in the thousands and not the millions, I am betting that those thousands of players were running software that they were not supposed to and got nailed for it.

could be millions i did not want to over-state my numbers, probably tens, or hundreds of thousands not everyone uses forums constantly, so if 1% of 40,000,000 accounts use the forums, and 5% of the forums are getting banned, that would equate to about 2,000,000 people on the whole
