What I said in that post is still true today. None of the 3rd party overlays or performance tools like Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc. will cause a player to be banned, you can read more about that here. If you are trying to attach cheat tools, debuggers, or manipulate games files, those are things that can result in a ban.

This article also has a lot of information about bans what kinds of things can get you in trouble: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11929

I saw several people say they were no longer banned today and that update was done today whereas the 4 that were unbanned already. So yes they assumed we had enough brain cells to piece it together without saying they -blam!-ed up publicly

He is only saying what Activision has informed him he can say. (It's in the contract)
-
Its probably the people readig game files to get leaks

Get em boy!! As a PvP main player who is BTW not happy with D2 PvP, but deals with it. I can say I support all Bungie does to swing the Ban Hammer to cheaters. Even more than D2 PvP, I despise cheats in the game. Keep the hammer swinging. I’m totally with ya that Bungie see’s more than we can. Yea, there are tons of vids showing people getting banned for just logging on etc, but what we can’t see is the cheat tools they have installed. That’s my take
-
Why I agree with you, i'm sure that not everyone being banned is being fairly banned, because some players have programs that edit games to uncap framerates, and allow them to do various other things, and the game anti-cheat software is picking that up and banning for it. So, while I support a swinging ban-hammer, I do think that the anti-cheat need to be tweaked for PC users.
-
Some are not banned, they're temporarily suspended. People use the word "ban" incorrectly all the time. Not saying all of them, but certainly some people who say they're banned aren't telling the whole truth.
-
Their response change. People were banned for no reason
-
Yeah 400 is tons
-
WOOOOONDA BOIIIIII
-
Cozmo, I appreciate what you do for the community, but tons of players are being banned on pc for what seems like no reason. There must be something wrong with the banning system or the game can’t tell which 3rd party apps affect gameplay.
-
The game's anti-cheat is picking up any software that tries to mess with the game itself in any way as cheats, like for example, I know a guy who got banned because he has something on his PC that tweaks game frame rates for him automatically, and since that is done by tweaking some info in the game files, he got banned. So I feel like the game's anti-cheat could use some tweaking for PC users, probably in the nature of being able to detect what is actually being effected by game file tweaks and such.
-
Im on the fence with this topic. Cheats can, and have destroyed games. Games I loved, The Division and Elder scrolls online. I would prefer to see players keep any add-ons turned off until Bungie can get this completely sorted out and give no waivers to anyone.
-
Yeah 400 people is tons
-
$40000 my dude or dudette
-
If 400 players represents $40,000, that's nothing to Bungie compared to 1 million players (for example). Especially if it's for the integrity of the game not having rampant cheaters.
-
Oh i know i was being sarcastic cus i assumed he was too
-
Okay I don't work for bungie but I read this and thought I should just throw a shot in the dark. Some recording and streaming software try to record the application (sometimes through memory to get a clearer picture) instead of just the a window that the user sets (I know this because I used one a while ago and whenever I closed the game it ended the recording). My guess is the game is detecting that and because it's interacting with something from the game, it flags the user
-
Yeah that's what I thought.
-
Now what about those of us, who didn't do any thing listed in the help article, didn't attach any sort of debuggers, cheat tools or tried to manipulate game files and were still banned? I can only feel hopeless in wanting to play this game since my ban was not lifted last night with the others that were erroneously banned. My only avenue now is to continue with my refund through amazon feeling slighted and having my reputation marred by a company who seem to not care.
-
Nice red herring, Cozmo.
