We know why, it's because our CPUs do not support SSSE3, however, we only new this [b]AFTER[/b] release, when Bungie decided to make a post about vital information for PC players. Here is the information we were given after launch, and not before: [spoiler] SSSE3 Required: Destiny 2 will not run on processors without Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (SSSE3). PLEASE NOTE: We’ve seen a number of reports of crashes on CPUs that fall below our stated minimum specs (E.G. AMD Phenom II series). We are investigating the issue and will attempt to fix the crash, but these CPUs are below minimum spec and are not officially supported.[/spoiler] And no, our CPUs (most of the Phenom ones) do not fall below requirements to play the game. If we are able to play the beta at 60fps, 1080p, then we would expect that we could play the full released game too, but Bungie seems to have locked us out because our CPUs do not support SSSE3, a thing that most people don't even know about. Ill be honest I Iove building computers, and I do so on my spare time, but I had no clue what the hell SSSE3 even was, let alone think that it would be an issue. Right now, the only choice for me if I want to play Destiny 2 is to dish out 300-400€ because I need a new CPU, Motherboard, and suitable RAM. This issue can be fixed on Bungies side, other game companies had this same problem with one of their games, for example No Mans Sky and Resident Evil. These developers removed the SSSE3 requirement and long behold, the [b]computers with those CPUs were able to play the games just fine.[/b] I believe I can say for most of us with this specific CPU type, that waiting for a fix is fine, however being left in the dark with no actual answers as if Bungie is actually working on a fix is what is the worst part about it. This is why people are trying to get refunds, because we are not sure if it is worth the wait, and if anything is even going to happen. I will keep on posting this, every single day until a response is received that is not an automated copy paste response.
