What's wrong with my power level????
Hey guys,
Before I get into the issue I'm having, I must explain that I'm at 280 power exactly, and all of my equipment has legendary mods on them.
So, a few friends of mine who play the game, started getting their legendary/rare item drops at base 273 power when they were around 278-279 power. I reached that power, and still my drops were only at 270 power. Now I just made it to 280 power by acquiring legendary mods randomly from turning in gunsmith parts, yet [b]I'M STILL[/b] getting my legendary and rare drops at 270, while a lot of my friends are getting theirs at 273. What am I doing wrong? Or what are they doing right?

Your drops are based on your lowest level item, not your average power level of all unmodded item levels combined. Example: you have all but one armor / weapon in power 295, with +5 mods in it. The one lower armor part you have is 280 with no mods. Every single drop you get from normal blues, purples and yellows are 27x-280, untill you upgrade that last item with lucky yellow higher level drop, of from Powerfull weekly engrams. I know, this sucks because sometimes you have to wait for weeks before that (-blam!-ing random) Powerfull engram upgrades that last item.

Your base light, assuming all your weapons and armor are 280 WITH mods, is 275. RNG calculates from that number.

The power level of rare and legendary drops is calculated on your base level and doesn't take into account legendary mods. You've probably reached the stage now where you need to rely largely on powerful engrams and exotic drops to level up further.

Edited by 123TheCloop: 10/29/2017 10:51:32 PMmods with +5 do not count towards light level drops (they only inflate your light level) past what the gear was originally before you modded it, if you want higher light level gear, then hope to get exotics and infuse them, thats one way to do it.
