It’s not a matter of wanting the game to fail. It’s a matter of wanting the scummy business practices that have infested the gaming industry to fail. Activision is well aware that a lot of gamers feel the same way you do, and will pay what ever it takes to see a promising franchise like Destiny live up to its incredible potential. They know that all they have to do is make a game that’s functional and looks pretty, hype it enough to get people to pre-order it, and then when it inevitably disappoints, promise to improve it with paid DLC. And out of a combination of hope for the franchise and a generous helping of Sunk Cost Fallacy, we’ll bend over and take what ever they give us every time. It’s only going to keep getting worse unless the gaming community puts its collective foot down and stops paying for games that operate this way.
