Hi dear community,
I roughly think that the most of the people that "hate" out there, without any single constructive feedback, about the DLC (or the raid lairs) know what it actually takes to develop such a big ass raid.
Like have you done well coded programming before? Modelling? Animating? Sound effects? Mapping?
I'm not trying to defend this game, it's more that I wanna say that you should think about the people behind the game, in the studios. They're just normal people like you and me and they use their time to develop you guys something to play, have fun and enjoy. And after that they get hated to death with nonsense hating? How would you feel as a developer? And obviously it's gonna cost you something, would you code hundreds of hours, if not even thousands of hours for free?
As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you".
Not saying you should love the game completely after this, but understand the work that has been put in.
This had to be said: At least some respect to the developers, designers & co. would be appreciated, instead of all the braindead-hating. Everyone has their opinion, but think about it, before shouting it.
Thank you for your time
Lots of love for the community & the workers
Don Diablo

The salt is real. Someone makes a logical post telling people to not persecute the devs so harshly, gets downvoted. Someone makes a post about how this game is a piece of trash (at this point why would anyone who seriously thinks that bother to hang around these forums, seriously, go, get out of here, and take your salt with you) and it gets hundreds of upvotes. Behavior like this is why bungie doesn’t take their own forums seriously anymore.

Edited by WP ScorpionWind: 11/16/2017 10:50:42 PMMore excuses. They did just fine with destiny 1. And they can’t blame it on time because they’re the ones setting the release dates so if they needed more time they should have pushed back the dates further than 2-3 months following game release. And had the game not been a total piece of S**t (just stating the obvious fact, don’t shoot the messenger) then this whole thing wouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. They could have simply designed the bae of the game around year 3 of destiny and then added to it with a decent story and a remodeled the whole thing and this thing would have been a whole lot better. A simple new story new locations, and new look and I would guarantee at least 75% less crap than the billions upon billions of crap that they have gotten. Oh and just saying, but I do game design to and there ain’t any reason why they could have don’t better. I code, program, design, draw, and the rest of the whole shibang and while it’s no easy job, a group that has had roughly 3-4 years to do this with new improved techniques that would make it easier could, should have done better.

I think the issue is with the fundamental attitude that Bungie is bringing to the table, how that bleeds through into the game, and how that affects the players. It's not like "Man, I wish there were X number of things to do instead of Y!" It's, "Bungie had a working model of a good game in Destiny Y2 and Y3 and then removed large portions of that working model and replaced them with things that do not work." Destiny is modeled well. It sounds phenomenal. If the game was just judged on its aesthetics, smoothness, and general programming quality, there's no doubt that we'd not have see the backlash that we've seen. But it's severely lacking in meaningful content. Let me emphasize that word: meaningful. I have no doubt that the programmers put in a lot of hard work, and I'm glad they did. But the leadership's decision about where they want to take the game is not reflective of that hard work, and that is the target of the bulk of the criticism that is being levied against Bungie. Direction, not methods.

The thing is, they had three years, plus what they already created from D1 to work from to make DLC, but not that just that, how to evolve from D1 and make it better, and they did not bring to the table what we expected, a complete disappointment . this is coming from a person who played over 3000 hours of destiny 1 and 2, and also played all of bungie's games, should have kept working with Halo tbh.

Go look up companies like Digital Extremes and then tell us about developing games. No -blam!-ing excuse... bullshit

Edited by Chicken in Rice: 11/16/2017 6:56:03 PMThank you for speaking up, I was starting to think that I was the only person who thought this. So good to know that there's other people who realized it.
Sorry for the hate you're getting by the way. Most people seem to be missing your point.
What people don't realize is everything in this game took time to make. That gun you're holding? It had to be modeled, textured, given it's own sound and given it's own perks and stats. If it's an exotic, it had to be given it's own lore in the Lore Tab too. All that combined has to take multiple hours. When you were little, did your mother ever make you a meal that you didn't like, but she made you eat it anyway? Then your father chimes in and says "You should appreciate that Mom made this for you, instead of complaining." Bungie made this meal for you. You may not like it, and you can give suggestions to make it better, but you should at least respect the people who made it. I'm NOT saying you have to like Destiny 2, but I AM saying that you should respect the developers.

I'm sure the team have no problem producing content. It'll just be the shitty decisions from managers or executives
-
I completely understand how hard it is to make new raids. Take your time, Bungie. However, when they take out features and make dumb decisions, that’s when they really get under my skin.
-
This is why game developers Have private Forums. I have built and Published my own Games on Xbox a few years ago. I used to read what the Public said I blocked them all. I only ended up talking with other developers in private. Because there is no Gratitude from the Public at All.
-
You miss spelled re-skinned as create & forgot to put these("") around new.
-
Just because it’s difficult to do something doesn’t mean it’s ok they didn’t do it. I’m pretty sure a lot of people would be happy if they pushed the dlc back a month or two so that it released with a full scale raid.
-
sorry, "Don." i know for a fact that every keyboard at Bungie has a "fix it" button that caters to every player. Bungie is just to lazy and money hungry to press the button. #duh
-
I do like the look of the DLC, can’t knock them for that. However it’s the huge change in the core mechanics of the game that have turned me away, for want of a better word they made the game to liberal.

I do understand the work they put in, but a lot of work can be put into a plane that never sees full scale production. The YF-23 being the first that comes to mind. Though some heart was put into that design. Actually, that isn't really a fair statement. Destiny 2 is more like the F-35: trying to make something that can do everything tends to lead to something that excels at nothing. It handles well, looks pretty good, but is outclassed by other aircraft in nearly all aspects when it comes to overall performance, capability, and value. So it's a lot like destiny 2: an rpg with very little variety in terms options and role-playing elements, an mmo without any real social features beyond a hub and an emote feed, an fps with the most basic of cannon fodder enemies and bullet sponge bosses, and a looter-shooter without loot that truely sticks out and changes the experience in ways that make you want to chase it down. So much potential, but not enough focus to achieve it.

Edited by BaTsHtTCrAZy: 11/16/2017 8:25:41 PMI'm sure it's a very time consuming process, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter how much work went into the game, if the final product is not well received by the gaming community.
People don’t get what it takes to create stuff.
Neither does Bungie 😂
-
As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you".
The "thank you" is their paycheck which is made possible because of the game purchase by us, the customers. This is not new to Bungie and nearly 4 years into the 10 year game, they most definitely SHOULD have had a much much better product by now. There will be no further "thank you" from me. Most certainly the only thing they've earned is indeed a "F'k You!" P.S. I don't work in gaming but I do work for a software company and if we put out garbage like this we would be out of business!
Like have you done well coded programming before? Modelling? Animating? Sound effects? Mapping?
Yes, no, no, no, and yes.
As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you".
Time and effort does not mean something is hard. I find what I do to be fairly easy because I know what I am doing, but it does take time and effort. Would I like a thank you for the work that I do? Yes, but if I didn't do a good job I would fully expect people to tell me to -blam!- off and do better.
This had to be said: At least some respect to the developers, designers & co. would be appreciated, instead of all the braindead-hating. Everyone has their opinion, but think about it, before shouting it.
It didn't need to be said at all... It's clear to anyone with at least half a brain cell that the devs at Bungie are pretty incompetent.
-
You aren't a developer on the same scale as them. They are a huge team with millions of dollars. Other developers do so much more with less time. Stop defending them, it's been 3 years man.
-
Everything it takes to create new stuff, Bungie already has.
-
its a triple a company, they can easily make a new raid
-
No one is bashing the poor programmers and designers. It's a rotten fish's head that is responsible for this mess.
-
Down-voted (not like it matters, you're already at a zero with this post ...) Point is: 1. Kudos to Bungie for creating beautiful worlds. 2. Thumbs down to Bungie for everything we can (or cannot do) in those worlds.
-
I do. A competent staff.
-
This isn't new. This was likely cut from the game to make money like most D1 DLC. Get Bungie's balls out of your mouth.

I claim to be a “game developer” on the destiny forums, therefore it must be true....smh.....
