I been playing online games for over 25 years , mmo raids and fps raid do not matter, if understand raids were created by the players in mainly everquest and phantasy star online , when we would just run same dungeon over and over and over till we got the gear for everyone in are group or guild or friendlist , over time developers learn and made the content harder so not everyone in the game got same items. Then world of war craft made it mainstream term Raids are all about you and your team mates getting the best gear , so can show off to other friends or other players. Even if it took a month of game time. get everyone the weapon or gear. There no difference from fps or mmo it all same concept. If content fun to grind and reward is awesome it is a raid. if more then 2 people. if in a dungeon to a final boss, now best were the enemy that could random spawn a rare monsters , and camping that for days and days. lol

  • I am speaking of goal wise. In an MMO the focus and most time the developers put in for mechanics is the boss. Not the environment. Destiny so far has been different with its encounters. Its about the environment and the puzzle to get the boss to be vulnerable or to progress. The bosses in Destiny are basically more like turrets than having a rotation of skills to adapt to and react to.
