You know what?
I am not a game developer, programmer, model maker, whatever. And no, I have NO idea what it takes to develop anything for a game.
You know why?
I shouldn't have to.
Being a professional in business for decades what I do know is that you don't sell your customers on what you can not deliver. If you don't have the time, talent, resources, what have you, you don't make something as a half developed, watered down, shell of what you promised to deliver - TWICE, and stay in that business very long.
Your customer base will only take so much for so long. Even the most committed customers have their breaking point.

What he said. I myself am not allowed to take shortcuts because my projects can have millions of dollars and lawsuits on the line. Everything I make has to be 99.99% perfect, so to see a company like bungie create such a half assed product enrages me
-
Cobravert is spot on here! Try that at your job, over commit and under deliver too often and your customer (your employer) isn't going to tell you it's OK, you're only human...here's more money and a participation trophy. NooPe, they're going to $hit can your @ss for someone else. In this case we're paying them and in the end, people will go to another game.
-
You're maybe not a developer, programmer, model maker, yeah might be. But you're still a human and they're just as human as you are. And that's why I'm saying be aware of that, just because you think they can sh*t out a whole new generation of gaming it doesn't mean they can do that. Not all devs have free hands to go and give their projects their input, some are bound.
-
I agree with your assessment, but it's still no excuse to releasing a watered down half-@@$$ed product.
-
It is an excuse for the workers. Blame the people that profit great enough of this. Talking bout Activision and the people from Bungie that get most of it, not the devs, designers, co.
-
Being human is a given, not an excuse. In business when you over promise and under deliver, repeatedly, you don't stay in business long if you do not listen to the critiques of your customers. Granted not all complaints are viable, warranted, or relevant. But when there is a general outcry from your customers on the exact same items of concern repeatedly, you have some real problems to address. Ignoring them, belittling them, or side skirting them are not viable options.

For gods sake read again what I said, devs do NOT have always free pass to do whatever they want or use their input in their projects. Stop searching for an argument that hard. It's not the devs that promised you something. Damnit.
-
I'm not remotely looking for an argument. I'm talking about the company in general. It's not any single department that under produced in this game, but the company as a whole. Taking the developers and programmers feelings as being hurt by the forums comments is either; A) nonsensical, for probably the majority of them never frequent the forums anymore anyhow. They're too busy doing their jobs. B) gives them the ammunition to present their findings, ideas, concerns to their superiors, if they feel that they're inputs, ideas, and content should be given more time, development, or thought. I am familiar with some people within the walls, but I don't believe for a second that anything I say in these forums would be construed as "personal" toward them if they read them.
B) gives them the ammunition to present their findings, ideas, concerns to their superiors, if they feel that they're inputs, ideas, and content should be given more time, development, or thought.
Some ex studio employees tried to do just that, protect the integrity and vision for the game, they are no longer at the studio.
-
Exactly. But they tried. That's important. If more were to do so with lowered gamers in the population, you would think that the higher ups would finally open their minds a bit.

I have little hope for this franchise because they need to fulfill the publisher's demands first and foremost. However, Bungie as a studio may still have some brilliant ideas moving forward and hopefully learned from what they've experienced in the decade of Destiny.
