No body made you buy D2 either. You choose to. It's an inherent risk anytime you buy anything. Will it work, will it fit, will it shrink, will it fade, will it stay in style...
The thing is that they can over time improve the game.
I think the majority of gamers expect every new game to mind blowing and something they've never seen before, so no game can ever live up to the hype they've built up in their own minds. Look at the MK franchise and most every other long lived franchise, they base themselves off previous games, but they change for better and worse, every iteration and they still live on. ME3 got ripped to shreds, it wasn't nearly as bad as the people who hated it made it out to be, but their complaints destroyed the franchise.
The D2 community seems to want to follow suit. It's crazy that people would rather see the game destroyed out of spite, because it's not tailored to each individual players wants, than play the game for what it is and enjoy it or move on. I quit playing D1 multiple times because it was so broken, but I never wanted the game, company and employees railroaded and destroyed because I didn't like the game. I simply moved on to other games, I came back to D1 2 or 3 times, too. The forum community needs to get a grip on it's OCD/addictive mentality.
This is a game we all playing, not a lifestyle, not an alternate reality, A GAME. If the opinion that D2 doesn't live up to the forum community's expectations and that's the thing they have to complain about most in life, you either have NO life, or a really good life.
D2 needs work, but it's not the worst game ever, or even close.
