I look at it like a car the original model has its release then often a series 2 or 3 which improves (sometimes) on what precedes it.
Sure on occasion a new model turns out to be worse or not as appealing as the previous model on offer but again with the series 2 or 3 hopes to regain what is lost.
All boils down to innovation sure its easy to go with a tried and true design but often companies want to try to introduce something new......its just that sometimes whats new falls short of expectations.
