September 2014 brought us one of the greatest games ever made.
The initial leveling systems and upgrade systems were some of the things that I loved the most about the game. The days of forever 29 were great because it was one of those "you just had to be there" moments that Bungie always refers to (even though they keep giving away "rare" items like candy)
I feel that pain of not getting what you wanted. I did VoG probably 100 times on HM and never got the Vex Mythoclast until April or May of 2017. However, that never bothered me because I was hardcore WoW player so it was kind of refreshing for me. The Vex Mythoclast dropping from Atheon was my new Hellfire Ramparts that I would grind to get the Halberd. The biggest criticism I always get when talking about Year 1/Vanilla of Destiny is the "nostalgia" one. To me it's not that. I fell in love with Destiny BECAUSE it was grinding and the drops were harsh to some things that were heavily desired. If we had gotten everything that TTK and RoI had to offer combined with the initial level and game systems that Vanilla had?! Destiny would probably still be that game I fell in love with. Unfortunately the casual minority won and the game has been very diluted.
