It took a few moments before the lady figured out she was the one being talked to, her eyes darting to look at the newcomer first, head tilting back down a few moments later. She cocked her head to the side for a second while she thought, a slight grin forming on her lips.
"Perhaps both? I'd be more surprised at the fact that we're both so similar, but that could just be little old me..."
Her own voice was on the rougher side of things, though still strangely delightful to listen to, sounding weirdly maternal and warm as well, with a clear tone and a slightly fumbled pronunciation of things.

“Dragons aren’t exactly the commonest things, but from what I’ve seen and heard, it’s nothing to do with breeding habits, so I’m not exactly shocked when I run into another one of Io’s granddaughters.”
Io is the father of dragons in D&D
-
Me knows
"Hmm... Io? I don't think I follow you there, and allow me to correct one minor fault: I'm not a dragon. Well, not completely... I'm something you'd call a 'Scicylla' in the tongue everyone here seems to speak." Of course, expecting only confusion as a response, the Scicylla, as she had called herself, was quick to expand on her own species. "We're the offspring of the Elves and the Dragonborn some... ten thousand years ago, or something similar. Folks often say we take the ferocity of the dragons and the beauty of the elves... heheheh! Want me to tell you a little more?"
it'll get saucy tho
“By all means, go ahead.”
-
"Well, for starters, we have a practically infinite lifespan with our ancestors to thank, though unlike our ancestors, we lost our link to magic, because by the Divine is melee just so satisfying. A bit more... risky info would be that we're often called the 'Moira-blessed'." Another term the newcomer wouldn't know, though the Scicylla didn't seem like she was going to elaborate -- not because it was a hard topic for her or anything, but more because she wasn't too interested in explaining, not unless asked...
-
“I’ll agree with you wholeheartedly on the melee front. Magic does come in handy for making sure you win the fight every time though.”
-
"Magic reeks," The woman responded as if it was the most normal thing in the world, her voice not necessarily hostile, though it wasn't the friendliest, either. "We Scicylla brute force our way through things, and that's how we like it... nothing more terrifying than an army of us on your doorstep!"
-
“Lady, people who say magic reeks have clearly never traveled by thunderbolt.”
-
"Nothing wrong with riding horseback," She retorted with a competitive grin and a twinkle in her eyes.
-
“Except how slow it is.”
-
"You make a fair point... Name's Kayrio, and you are?" Well, that was a quick switch.
-
“Rai. Pleasure to meet you.” She offers a hand to shake.
-
"Pleasure's all mine." She took Rai's hand firmly in her own, giving it a single, respectable shake before their hands parted again. Rio smiled a little, showing off unnervingly sharp, triangular teeth, seemingly too many for her mouth. "I'm impressed that you know what 'Moira-blessed' entails, too, even if you're a pesky mage..." She grinned wider, her eyes twinkling once more, ears twitching.
-
“Mage? Don’t you dare insult me like that.” She says in an extremely lighthearted way, not serious at all. “I just use magic to make myself an even better swordswoman.”
-
"Magic reeks," She repeated, her own voice as lighthearted as Kai's, laced with a joking tone. "Buuuut, you can't just declare yourself a great swordswoman afore one of the finest swordsmen of the Scicylla." Most notably, Kayrio referred to herself as a man, indirectly or no, despite very clearly being female. Much more importantly, however, what she had said sounded like an invitation for a duel, and something in those copper eyes suggested that was exactly what she wanted.
-
“That a challenge? Because I’d hate to cleave your ego in half if it is, enjoyable as it would be to crush you.”
-
"My ego's not the one that'll get dented... and it's not being cocky if you can back it up. C'mon, Kai, I'll even be gentle!" Kay winked at... Kai with her right eye, her hands resting on the pommels of her swords, elf ears quivering intently as she awaited the woman's response.
-
“It’s Rai, actually.” She said with a wolffish grin as she unsheathed her massive blade, lighting ripping across the heavens for badass effect. “And bring it on!”
-
"Even prettier!" A compliment at the start of a fight... what a weird gal. She returned the wolfish grin, showing off all those razor-sharp teeth while she drew her own two weapons, hands slipping down to the grips of her swords, slightly pushing forwards then pulling up, both steel blades glinting whenever lightning illuminated the sky.
-
“Not So much as the weather, it’s practically cinematic. But enough talk, have at you!” And with that she lunged forwards, clearing the distance between them in the blink of an eye and a single bound, huge blade snapping forwards far faster than one would expect.
-
*teleports behind u*
The sudden burst of speed was more than Kayrio had expected from Rai, though if she wanted speed... she could get it. The Scicylla almost seemed to disappear, her muscles tensing up one moment, having dashed behind the lightning-chick the next. In the same movement, she thrust her two swords out, tips aimed for Rai's midriff.
-
Rai pivoted on instinct, smashing the attack aside and setting up for a counterattack cross slash. “Impressive speed, but your technique was woefully predictable.”
-
The edge of Rai's bleed was caught on the guard of Kay's right sword, kept in place long enough for the Scicylla to stab at her opponent's abdomen with her left blade, the jab quick and hard both. "I must say exactly the same for you."
-
Rai’s knee came up hard and deflected the attack away by smacking into her opponent’s wrist with a crack, and then straightened as she slammed her foot into the dragon-elf’s gut to knock her away, each impact accompanied by a numbing electric shock.
-
The kick to the gut was deftly dodged as Kay slipped to the side, her right hand and right sword still keeping Rai's longsword as it was. Now, the dragon-elf's right side was facing her opponent, left sword gliding past her own stomach, tip jabbing at Rai's middle once more, even if Rio was in an... awkward spot.
-
“If you insist.” Rai moved with her kick, stepping deftly out of the way of the stab, twisting her body and shoulders as she went to shift her greatsword off the blocking blade and complete it’s slash downwards towards her opponent’s chest and extended arm, sparking with electricity.
