A sardonic grin crossed his face, and the air around them began to grow humid, the temperature rising rapidly as white fire began to lick at the outline of the stranger. The air grew clouded with mist, the air becoming heavy as more rain evaporated into water vapor.
"Child, if you could survive ever so easily on your own, why did you care when his life was apparently threatened? Why such anger, such fire in you? I don't know who told you you would be safe here with only a rifle and your angry confidence, but they are either ignorant or stupid."

Tara lowered her rifle, and turned to walk back inside, spattered with rain. Pushing past Miles, she slammed the door shut, and stomped upstairs to put the gun away. She was beyond pissed off. Nobody had the right to tell about her or Miles except Rose, Diana, and Wilson. With her in a mood, Miles stripped out of his exo, the armor folding up nice and neat as it usually did into a small square. Going upstairs, he passed her as she came down, Tara shoving him to the side as she went back to where she’d been on the couch. Miles carried on upstairs, figuring that perhaps avoiding her for the night was an intelligent idea.
End
