After Mass Effect: Andromeda and Star Wars: Battlefront II, can we write off EA as a company incapable of releasing a quality product? Quality is apparently not part of the company's culture. I don't see why we should expect Anthem to be any less of a disaster than these two games. At least EA still has sports titles.
For reference, here's the sad story of Mass Effect: Andromeda:

And here are the review scores for Star Wars: Battlefront II:

Need for Speed Payback also looks like a crap game, but who hadn't written off that franchise?
Battlefront 2 is actually a very, very good game. High quality all around. The microtransaction controversy is completely overblown and should not affect a critical examination or review of the game as much as it has been.

Edited by TravDawg: 11/30/2017 6:25:51 PMHaven't played BattleFront II and really don't plan too as it seems to just have a tacked on SP campaign like titanfall 2. Put a hundred hours of so into ME Andromeda, genuinly liked it but ran out of stuff to do and uninstalled it when bioware announced the quarian arc storyline was going to be relegated to ME comics whitch I didn't even know existed until I heard that.
-
The developers themselves are more than capable of making quality games. It's the men in suits who want everything chopped up and mangled with microtransactions, rushed deadlines, and awful progression systems that are tied to loot boxes.
-
Blame those people who spent money on ultimate team mode

Edited by KRIMS0NIT3: 11/28/2017 6:01:23 PMBattlefront 2 is actually good, the neutered score is purely out of reaction to the micro controversy. Andromeda as a concept was awesome the graphical errors destroyed its rep much in the same way the micro controversy affected battlefront Also EA’s sports titles are a travesty, they are well executed with few bugs but they’re just the same thing over and over with different slider and tuner settings and updated rosters (which honestly could be done with an update). Occasionally a new engine gets put in but that’s rare. Players of EA sports titles are also a massive part of the micro income for EA that led them to believing they should put micros in Star Wars. Ultimate Team is one of the worst offenders for micro transactions.

EA doesn't make games so probably not. Andromeda is biowares fault and Star Wars is on DiCE.
-
At this point Anthem is dead in water for me until proven otherwise.
-
That moment when Ubisoft makes better games.
-
I haven't played Battlefront 2 and likely never will, but I've heard that it is a solid game. A greedy, money-centric progression system guarantees that I will never buy the game, but it looked pretty solid otherwise. Andromeda on the other hand was ridiculed for being broken/buggy. I really hope Anthem isn't some P2W trash like Battlefront 2, but I highly doubt that will happen. This time next year gamers everywhere will be enjoying Anthem's P2W progression and Destiny 2's transition to P2W when the $40 DLC launches next year.
-
If it weren't for the loot boxes, Battlefront 2 would have gotten at least 8/10 across the board. And given all of the controversy they stirred up, I seriously doubt they will pull the same BS with Anthem. If they do, they would be signing the death sentence on their company.
-
But they are good quality games.
-
Man I want anthem so bad but after what's happened im forcing myself to wait until after it comes out
-
Rip anthem?
-
Capable but their greed blinds them.

This is especially true, and to an obnoxious degree, in the triple A industry. There are exceptions to this like CD Projekt Red, but for the most part all of the others are nearly all in or venturing into it. If you want games with any sort of passion behind them avoid triple A frankly. The more investors run a company the less about creativity it is. EA is ran by investors, so you are only getting investors trying to get the creative team to make things based on a theorized market model. It has to be a shooter, multiplayer is required, lootboxes are in now, people like RPGs, open worlds, realistic graphics. That's how they work, and especially when the company wants to look good on their financial report they will release a game early before it is actually complete. They know it will sell well enough if they don't allude to the incomplete nature of it. This is proven through demonstration every year. I could keep going but I won't so again just avoid triple A.

Battlefront 2 is a quality game for gameplay and graphics, but their system for unlocking shit is complete trash.
-
I thoroughly enjoyed Monopoly Plus

Battlefront 2 (EA) is a good game though. Great to play despite all the issues. Mass Effect Andromeda isn't nearly as bad as people make it out. A good 8.5/10 to me.
-
EA helped with battlefield 4 did they not?
-
Yes but their greed ruins everything.
