A scuff was heard, a footstep, followed by some chick behind him yelling something like a little kid.
"THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!"
Rose threw her hands up then, exclaiming it into the dust, her face masked by goggles and a bandanna, keeping her safe from the sandstorm.
The girl had a shield on her back, a revolver on her right thigh, and a gladius in a sheath on her back. Black, scuffed armor was worn over her body, in vital areas and the like, not too heavy, not too light.
Her short cut hair was kicked up by the wind, giving her a wild look, and even though in all the gear, she looked boyish, she was definitely feminine.
If that wasn't a The Incredibles reference then I don't know what is.
"I know right?" JT shouted over to the spectator of his, a laugh joining his words as he started to walk over.
-
Rose was giddy, watching the man. "Jesus Christ if I could sling my revolver like that!" She squealed then, unable to contain her excitement.
-
"It ain't as useful as y'think kid. Trust me, ain't no way you'd use that over a rifle in a fight." JT really shouldn't be calling her kid, considering he only looked about twenty six, maybe twenty seven with his beard.
-
"Still it was badass, you can't deny it!" She giggled then, squirming in place.
-
"Damn right, miss...?"
-
"Rose, Miss Rose. Actually just Rose." She grinned then, shifting in place a bit.
-
"What brings ya to this shithole, Rose?"
-
"Just about anything. Honestly I don't even know. Fate I guess?"
-
"Right, fate brings you into a desert city during a sandstorm. -blam!- your luck," JT said with a sarcastic tone, as he approached Rose. "There's a bar not too far away, wanna get a drink until the storm blows over?"
-
She shrugged. "I'm underage but -blam!- it, might as well. Lead the way, Dusterino."
-
"Shit how old are you?"
-
"Nearly 20."
-
"Oh thank -blam!- I thought you were like seventeen or some shit like that."
-
"I mean I could pass as that young. Maybe." She shrugged then, grinning under the bandanna.
-
"Th:' bartender won't give a shit regardless."
-
"Then good, that's decided. Lead the way?" She gestured with an arm to do so then.
-
JT led her over to the tavern, walking through those flap door things and heading for the bar. He ordered himself a whiskey.
-
"flap door things" 10 out of -blam!-ing 10
Rose walked in after him, sauntering into the place with a certain swagger that could only be compared to a gunslinger. The girl was cocky, confident, and she flaunted it. Sitting down at the bar next to him, she ordered rum.
-
JT took a few sips of his drink before turning to face Rose. "So, what's your story el bandito?"
-
"My story? Rough childhood, too much pressure, broke down and ran away. Found some 'people', they took me in, been with them since. Yours, Marshal?"
-
"Grown in a tube, given to an experiment family, raised in a gang, girlfriend tried to kill me, ran away. -blam!-ed a lot of people, had too many kids to count and never fathered them, and I went to Cedyetica. From there to now, it's a blur."
-
"We then Mr Midlife Crisis, that's quite a story." She chuckled then, taking a sip of her glass now.
-
"Nah, that was what... Twenty years ago now? I like t'think I got my shit somewhat together."
-
"Heh, if you say so..." She grinned then, setting her glass down.
-
"What kinda shit do you do for fun around here?"
