“I’ll keep it in mind...” Cain said as he walked with Lyn. “But hold on...can she speak with animals as well then? Or howl...?”

~~~~~~Sometime later~~~~~~~ The trio had arrived at the forests and were already a good distance in before Artemis jumped up onto a branch randomly. "Alright, we should start climbing. Some of the beasts out here aren't exactly friendly and it'll be easier to spot the hounds from up above." The trees were hundreds of feet tall and incredibly thick with large branches and leaves. The branches were visibly thick enough for people to walk or even run on.
-
“Hold on.” Cain said. “What sort of beasts are we hunting exactly?”
-
"Blood hounds. About 6 feet tall, shoot fire, and don't stay dead for long unless you kill the alpha. The alpha is about twice the size and basically just shoots even more fire. We have to get the alpha before we can start withering down the numbers of the smaller guys." Artemis explained, Lyn already climbing up the tree.
-
Cain would run at the tree, using his right foot to kick off, then quickly placing his left foot at the trunk and kick off of that, before he would reach a firm branch and pull himself up. “So we find the alpha first, kill it as soon as possible, then find a spot where we can whittle down the rest of the pack without being harmed.”
-
"That's the plan, uhh...Cain was it?" Arty replied, leaping all the way up the tree in just one jump somehow. Lyn however was climbing just like Cain. "The f*ck...?" Lyn turned to Cain with a confused expression.
-
“She’s very acrobatic.” Cain commented. “Though I thought she was canine, not feline.”
-
"She is canine..." Lyn and Cain would eventually reach Artemis' height after a minute or two of climbing. "Took you two long enough, thought you both died." Artemis joked, giggling at her own joke.
-
“No, we’re alive.” Cain would reply, the joke completely going over his head.
-
Arty stopped giggling and stared at Cain with a raised brow. "I-It's a joke....It's a joke, Cain. Where did you g-" "He's not the best socially yet...we're working on it." Lyn cut off Artemis to reply, while patting Cain's back again.
-
Cain bowed his head, disappointed. “I’m sure it was funny...”
-
"Aw, it's okay, buddy." Artemis tried to cheer up Cain with a grin. "Not your fault you don't get social stuff fully. You'll get better, I'm sure."
-
Cain nodded, before his eyes became filled with purpose. “I think we have things to kill, right?”
-
"Right." The two woman said in unison before beginning to walk. "Onwards!" Lyn declared as they'd hop tree to tree while looking out for the giant alpha Artemis had described.
-
Cain would follow suit, his nigh religious physical training kicked in as he easily hopped across the trees, keeping pace with the two girls.
-
Lyn and Cain easily stayed together, but Artemis was darting around at an inhuman pace, constantly ahead of them and scouting. "The hell is up with wolf girl?" Lyn whispered to Cain.
-
“She’s your friend isn’t she? How am I supposed to know?!” Cain asked back.
-
"I don't know her that well!" Lyn replied back, sighing. "Let's just be glad she's helping us..." ~~~~~Small time skip~~~~ They'd eventually reach what looked like a large clearing ahead, the sounds of barking and snarling heard from in front of them.
-
“I think we have run into our prey...” Cain spoke softly as he crouched behind some foliage from the groups elevated position, looking around for the hounds. Lyn could her him take a long whiff of air through his nose. “I can smell them.”
-
In the clearing were several dozen 6 feet tall, greyhound looking dogs. Their giant muscles and small horns on their heads made them look more like bulls than hounds. In the center was a hell hound three times the size of the others with dark red skin rather than the black appearance of the others. "So...our numbers are a little low." Lyn whispered to the group. "Yeah, but we're stronger, aren't we?" Artemis crouched beside Cain, nudging him lightly. "You can do this, right?"
-
“Yes, definitely.” Cain told her. “I have an idea, since we will want to strike the alpha first with a surprise attack.”
-
"Alright, let's hear your plan." Artemis pulled the bow off her back and took an arrow out of her quiver.
-
“Well, let’s say I’ve been able to master a form of magic.” Cain began to explain. “I am able to hold myself in the air, and then bullet towards my targets with my Spear, and am able to deliver a devastating blow. If one, or both of you, leap on to me while I’m in the air. I could strike the beast, and then immediately after both of you would take it down while it’s surprised, if I don’t kill it with my first blow.”
-
"You think you can carry both of us?" Lyn asked, sounding unsure. Artemis shrugged and put her bow and arrow away. "Hey, if he's just doing this so that two girls cling onto him, I'll kill him myself."
-
“Yes, I can carry both of you.” Cain affirmed Lyn, ignoring Arty’s comment.
-
Both of the girls grabved onto one of his shoulders. "Try not to miss, Cain." Arty said before chuckling. "We miss and I doubt this'll end well."
