“I’m sure they will...”
Drake said, unease building up in his stomach. He’d been in a few stakeouts before, but at least in those times, he knew exactly who and what he was going to be up against, and he’d always had The Arrowhead... and his crew to watch his back. Now, he had no gear, no money, and was being pursued by some unknown military force in an unknown land. What made things worse: this strange woman who looked almost exactly like she did.
Drake wasn’t very superstitious, unlike most Captains. But he’d really stepped into the shit this time, and there were only a few options left to him. They could stay here, and risk running out of ammunition and cover. Yeah, scratch that option. They could try running into the woods, or somewhere with dense cover, but chances are the faction would find them. Cover alone wouldn’t save them...
“There’s somewhere we can go.” Drake finally said, gazing outside a nearby window cautiously. “If you’re able to make it there, we can try catching a ship to the Celtic Isles. There’s some sort of magical barrier protecting it, and even if that doesn’t work, we’d disappear into the crowd. Think it’s worth a shot?”

Edited by Kruos the Wicked: 12/2/2017 11:47:39 PM"It's the best chance we have. If we could somehow get to the Celtic Isles, there is a chance Frontier won't be able to get to us. They won't stop until you're dead and they have me back in their possession. Somewhere like that is all we got." --------------------------------- Unknown Frontier Vessel, 3000 Km From Tatakai "General," a man said, entering the command deck. "We have news from one of our assassins. The one sent to kill Micheal Drake." "Yes. What about it?" the General responded, staring out at the planet. He, as with everyone onboard, was a member of the A.R.E.S fleet of the Frontier army. The darker colors of their ships and uniforms marked them as unique, with their presence being an unmistakable sign of important operations. "They found her. The girl. She's in the Dojo" The General's eyes widened. They had finally tracked the girl down to an exact location, and he wasn't about to let her go. If he knew anything about her, he most certainly knew she would get somewhere away from Frontier where they couldn't reach. He wasn't about to let that happen. She had so much potential... "Prepare a counter force. I would like to go down there myself. Kill Micheal on sight. The girl belongs to me." --------------------------------- "Shit. Look out!" Something exploded, and the assassin emerged. Their suit was heavily damaged, with their metal arm exposed and showing. Whatever they had fought, it hadn't just been them... "Give her to me," the assassin said in a raspy metal voice, "And I'll let you live."

Drake’s pistol was out in a flurry of motion, its barrel... pressed up against Caroline’s head. He moved behind her, his frame mostly blocked by her own. Snarling at the assassin, he said through gritted teeth, “Hand her over?... And why should I do that?” He calmly said, his prosthetic hand obscured behind her body. Nobody besides Drake knew what he was planning... and the Smuggler intended to keep it that way. Caroline meant something to these people... and he could use that.
-
Caroline glanced back at him, surprised but not exactly scared. I hope you know what you're doing, her expression seemed to say. Meanwhile, the assassin paused, lowering his blaster pistol. "Fine," he said, "Kill her. Do it. Finish the job. But you won't, will you? You can't bring yourself to actually pull the trigger."

Edited by GingerlyWalnut3: 12/3/2017 6:12:53 PM“Really? You know who I am, you know what I’ve done... Tell me that I won’t. I dare you.” Drake gazed evenly at the man, his eyes challenging the assassin’s bet. His prosthetic eye, in particular, was... mesmerizing. If only the man looked more deeply into it, perhaps he could see the story within. It was... hypnotizing. “Now, unless you’d like to explain to your employers why you missed your mark and you didn’t get the lady back, I’d put the gun down right now.” His prosthetic hand pressed the button behind his back, unbeknownst to everyone else in the room. Now it was just a matter of time.
-
He laughed, his raspy metal voice carrying across the area. "You see, you have no idea the extent of anything that is going on. That girl you hold hostage is more valuable and more dangerous than anything else in this Dojo. And even if you don't understand that, let me ask you this: Why would you save someone you don't even know? Would you find a way to spare her life, only to end up risking the fate of everyone else's? Understand that this situation is bigger than you can possibly dream."
-
Michael could afford to stall a little bit longer. His task complete, he took his now free prosthetic arm and grabbed her shoulder in a seemingly iron grip, pressing the barrel of his blaster against Caroline's head slightly harder. Subtly, he squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. "Oh yeah? Tell me why she's so important... 'cause like you said, I don't know her. She means nothing to me. Why should I save her?" He flicked a switch on the blaster, and tightened his grip on the trigger, though not yet pulling it. Escalating the situation would work into his hand... hopefully.
-
"Fine. You win," he said, as he dropped his blaster. "But just know one thing: She will doom you all." He broke into a rapid sprint, his hidden blade deploying from his arm as he lunged at Micheal.
-
Michael tilted his blaster to the side, firing just over Caroline's shoulder at the man. Suddenly, with a booming crash, a small drone flew through a nearby window, and dropped something, before it subsequently left through an adjacent exit. In the heat of the moment, Caroline recognized it as an assault rifle of strange making, flying through the air... right at her. "Caroline, shoot him!" Drake said, backpedaling away from the incoming man. She wouldn't have much time to shoot... but it was enough.
-
Caroline slid to it in an utterly epic fashion, and the assault rifle was now in her hands. She fired directly into the portion of the man's exposed metallic chest. It would have, supposedly, caused some major damage.
I don't know exactly what it's affects are
The would-be assassin fell to the ground, severely damaged to the point of inoperability. It twitched slightly against the wall it was laying against, nearly dead. "Holy shit, that actually worked." Caroline said, shaking. "We... we did it."
-
Think of it as doing something like this.
The coilgun blasts straight through the assassin, shredding his metal chest to pieces. In the incredibly off chance that the cyborg survived, Drake walked over to him, and melted his head with his blaster. "Hell yeah we did!... Sorry about using you as a meat-shield, by the way. That was the first thing I could think of." Drake shrugged, holstering his blaster. Caroline had made a leap of faith trusting the man, and so far it had paid off.
-
Nice
"It's okay," she said, almost giddy yet still worried, "I knew there wasn't much else you could do. I'm just glad that -blam!-er is dead. But Frontier doesn't appreciate when people kill it's top-of-the-line operants. They'll be coming after us. In force"
-
Edited by GingerlyWalnut3: 12/3/2017 7:13:19 PMDrake made his way towards the exit, and as he stepped into the doorway, he looked over his shoulder at her. "Well then, I guess we'd better get moving. Docks aren't a long walk from here." He said slyly, gesturing for her to follow him as he exited the building. "Who knows? Maybe you'll get to use me as a hostage next time."
-
She laughed. "Maybe. I'd like to see that."
Truly epic ending that stretches into another post? Modified epic where you escape? Or peaceful end?
-
Epic ending all the way.
"I,-er, I dunno if I'd like to see that. Maybe we'll find someone else along the way who's 'hostage material'." Drake said jokingly. They were walking down a steep hill path, the paved road bordered by rock walls. In the distance, they could see the docks, with the large boat that would take them to the Celtic Isles, but there was still a long way to go until they reached it. Plenty of time for something exciting to happen...
-
As they walked, two ships ominously flew across the sky above them, moving to somewhere far in the distance. Possibly to another continent, but it wasn't clear. "What was that?" Caroline said, startled by the sudden arrival of the craft. "We should get moving. They could be Frontier for all we know."
-
“In that case, might as well try to run there. I’ll print out our tickets in the meantime.” Drake tapped on some sort of data-pad before he followed Caroline down the hill. A miniature printer in his arm began to realistically forge the tickets as they ran towards the ship.
-
They would make it down to... Dojoville? Or at least whatever was left of it. "Should we try going through?" Caroline asked
-
"Yeah, better than being out in the open." Drake said, continuing on into the village.
-
They begun to move through, the entire place being eerily quiet. It was abnormally derelict, almost enough to say they were walking into a trap... "DON'T MOVE." a voice said, booming over some sort of loudspeaker. "YOUR SURROUNDED. DROP YOUR WEAPONS IMMEDIATELY." Suddenly, they became aware of the four ogre-class Titans that surrounded them, each accompanied by at least twenty A.R.E.S. ground troops. They were heavily armored and held extremely advanced weaponry that would pose a problem if they tried to run.
-
"Think they'll fall for the hostage trick again?" Drake whispered to Caroline jokingly as he slowly raised his weapon up, though keeping it in a mostly neutral position. "'Cause right now, I've got nothing."
-
"Put down the weapon. NOW!" the loudspeaker said again as the troops prepared to fire. At that moment, a small A.R.E.S. flagship came down from the sky. It looked like it was designed exclusively for a commander or general and his elite guard. It landed directly in their path. "Hit it!" someone within the ranks said, the soldiers suddenly throwing something towards the two. It exploded, knocking them back and emitting some sort of gas. Whatever it was, it was causing Micheal to slip in and out of consciousness... After a few moments, a figure could be seen moving amongst the smoke. He looked at Caroline, almost disappointed in her, and two men suddenly picked her up and carried her to the craft. The figure then moved over to Micheal, peering down at him with a cock of his head. He seemed to be wearing a heavily ornamented combat suit, fit for a high ranking general. He disengaged the black visor that obscured his face, revealing someone that seemed oddly recognizable yet foreign. He was human, and he looked like he had seen some shit. "Micheal Drake. Hm. I almost expected someone of a little... higher caliber. I suppose I shouldn't complain. After all, you are just another puppet to be played" the General said. That was the last thing he heard, as the smoke clouded his mind and the blackness overtook him.
Same reply chain or another post? Your preference.
