“Have you ever torn a man in half?” The Vampire Hunter was sitting around in his warehouse, sitting on a large, black leather couch. He didn’t have any plans that day, so the Priest and him had been talking about their different exploits in their hunter experiences. They were both hunters of the supernatural, be it ghost, and goblin, or vampire. The Vampire Hunter had made the previous comment, lowering his wife-brim hat. Priest: “No, at least I don’t recall doing it. I use crossbows, not melee. Sometimes I swear you forget I’m just a normal guy and not a homunculus like you and Huntress.” Vampire Hunter: “Don’t forget Athena.” Priest: “Yes, yes. And Athena.” The Priest was a young man, maybe in his late-twenties at the most. He wore a white trench coat, and that was all was able to be seen. He was behind a desk, his own hat pulled down over his face. He was reading away at a book, possibly a Bible considering his profession. The Vampire Hunter was dressed as the Priest, but in pure black. His face was completely unseen, as if something was covering it. Suddenly, the Huntress bursts through the door. Huntress: “Hunter! You need to go outzide! Now! I tried to handle it... But I can’t! Go! Now!” Fear was apparent in her voice, her accent edging itself as she began to panic. The Vampire Hunter didn’t even say a word, he just began walking. He walked right through the door, ready for anything. If it was enough to scare the Huntress, it was probably enough to make him a little uneasy. When he got outside, he realized just why the Huntress was scared. The thing was massive, thousands of black tentacles and paws flinging themselves everywhere. It was as big as a building, a mammoth of a creature. It didn’t even seem to have a form, it was just one giant mass. But it seemed to recognize that Vampire Hunter was near, because it stopped dead in its tracks. It began to shift, shrink down into something looking like a person. It shrunk down into the shape of a woman, that fact only partially hinted at by the shape of its hips. The other telltale sign, was the voice. Creature: “It has been long since I have seen one of your talent... Tell me... Do you plan to kill me? Allure me? Incapacitate me? Probably one of those... But I am not here for wanton destruction... If I was, your pretty little huntress would be dead, Charles. Yes, your name! One not heard since... When did you change it last? It was in France, correct? When you killed that child?” It seemed it was trying to goad him into aggression with the mention of such heinous acts, but the Vampire Hunter only smiles his toothy smile more, the flames of his eyes glowing brighter. Vampire Hunter: “You think I’m ashamed of what I’ve done? Hell no. That’s like a businessman being ashamed of selling something, or a politician being ashamed of lying. It’s my job, and I’m damn good at it. And whatever you are, you’re dead already. Just by trying to piss me off.” The thing moved towards him more, her very slender figure moving smoothly. She stood at exactly his height, seven feet eight inches. She smiled, a red smile creeping across her face. It went from where her left ear would be to the right. Her fingers reached out, to the Vampire Hunter’s face. She grabbed around his cheeks. For some reason, he couldn’t resist. It confused him, and frustrated him. He thought it was some magic bullshit, but he could never be sure. Creature: “I am not here to kill anyone, or even hurt anyone. I am here for you, to take you out of the picture. I am one of atonement, and you have much to atone for.” The thing’s hands began to burn, began to hurt. They hurt. Usually the Vampire Hunter would’ve enjoyed such a sensation, but this was... Different. Like it wasn’t just hurting, but doing actual damage. She took her hands from his face, looking at her again. That was when it plunged its hand right into his chest, ripping out his heart. He looked shocked. He fell to the ground at this point, and the thing lowered his heart into its mouth, swallowing. He wasn’t dead, but he wished he was. Pain. All the pain he’d ever caused, all being rushed upon him. His chest began to heal, but when it was done, he felt weak, tired. “Let us see how you fare here without your abilities, hm? How well you are at hunting?” It sat down beside him, waiting for another to show up.
Open.
• "I-It's not your fault...." He took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "...just a bad dream."

 • She shrunk down to be about his height, seeming like she was trying to comfort him now, and no longer look opposing. However, the lack of a face did not help this. “A bad dream? In the middle of the day? I have a creeping feeling you aren’t telling the entire truth...”

 • "Is it a lie or is it simply a different way of describing something? I think it's the latter." Bedlam noticeably calmed down a good bit.

 • “Alright... Fine. But if I have to atone for this I will be blaming you. Wait... Then I’d have to atone for that... I’ll figure it out later.” The Vampire Hunter began writing around on the ground, spitting up blood.

 • Bedlam glanced at the hunter, not reacting much to seeing him spit blood. "He's fine. So, you're made by the gods? I'm guessing you're...a tad screwed in the head. I mean, since when do the gods ever get along and agree on something? I can't believe they all figured out how to agree on exactly what's right and wrong."

 • “Oh, they didn’t agree on that. I had to figure it all out by myself. But now, I know exactly what must be right and wrong. I have to judge each situation and decide if it is worth punishing for. It is... Complicated, to say the least.”

 • He nodded, understanding. "Yeeeaaah....Sorta sucks that people can be forced to atone depending on whether or not your morals find anything wrong with what they've done. Though, how can you really decide if you should punish someone for something? I mean, what's really right and what's wrong? There's no simple good and evil. It's a lot of grey goo..."

 • “Everyone must atone for their wrongs, even if they believe they are in the right and have done the right thing. Killing one to save thousands still comes with its own price-tag. You still took a man’s life. If you steal something for your ailing child, you still stole something. You could’ve sought help, but instead you stole out of stubbornness or ignorance. Wrong and right are not black and white, but atonement is. I simply make them feel what they’ve done to others.”

 • "I don't think that's completely right. What if someone had everything taken from them by a group of people and that person stole something back?"

 • “That is not stealing. That is taking back what is yours, very different things. I had to learn right and wrong on my own, from those around me. I have seen many, I know what is right and what is wrong.”

 • “I was not given emotion when I was created. It was either forgotten about, or not needed. I do not know which. I lean towards the latter. You do not need emotion to judge.”

 • "No, but emotions are nice to have in my opinion. You seem to think otherwise though...." He sighed. "Kinda sad how some gods just poof up people like you."

 • “I wouldn’t know if emotions are nice to have. I’ve never had any. It would be possible to give me emotions if another god gives the acceptance, but I have yet to meet one since they made me... Guess you could say I’m a tad bit lonely. Everyone hates me because I’m forced to make them atone.”

 • “Well, I haven’t sensed one yet, so I’m doubtful. There’s traces, but none remain here. All have left or died. I do not know what this means, hopefully that they may one day come back.”

 • Bedlam sighed. "There are demi-gods here if that's close enough."

 • “Those are halflings, unable to access the realm of a god. They do not even come close to counting at all. That’s like comparing a lion to a cat that looks like a lion.”
