SLI Performance worse than Single GPU ?

Hi, is it just me or is the SLI performance of Destiny 2 extremely bad ? When i run 2 1080 Ti in SLI, i struggle to maintain 60 fps at 4k with max settings and i get some kind of input lag. it's subtle but i can feel it. then, when i disable SLI, i get solid 60 fps at max settings without problem, and the input lag seems to be completely gone. Am I the only one experiencing this ?

  • I just noticed this problem too. I run two GTX1080ti's w/ a i7700k and I always felt like my performance in D2 was sub par, stutters, 70ish fps and slight input lag as well. I was playing Assassins Creed Odyssey which has no SLI support so I disabled SLI to play that game. Well I forgot to turn it back on a few days later and started playing D2 again and 5 minutes into playing I started wondering why my game was playing so smooth. I turned on the FPS counter and i was averaging around 120 fps. That reminded me I was still on one card. I've been trying to look around and figure out why performance would go down this sharply with one card but I've yet to find a solution. I've tried both Forced Frame 1 and 2 but neither showed any difference in performance for me, and I do have the drivers you mentioned in your later post from Dec 5th but there is actually another they released early January. As for now I'm just running the one card in D2 as that's the only way the game plays well. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I get great peformance on 1080ti SLIs EXCEPT for one caveat. I posted this before. To sum it up, I get a weird frame lock loop that occurs when the milstone banner appears on screen or a lot of 2d icons on the screen, say at the tower or farm when its full. It got better with the last nvidia driver udate and not as sever, but still there from time to time. Check my video to see an eample of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbOkwW91xE8

It seems Bungie was working on it with Nvidia. With today's patch and the latest driver (even though it's specified as a doom VR driver), the performance is much better. I get 90-100 fps now with SLI and the input lag seems much better.

    • Sli performance and Crossfire performance has been bad for a while now. I stopped doing Sli about 5 years ago because games didn't even have it setup upon release. I got tired of waiting for a game to get Sli, so I just started buying the best card i could. 4k gaming, while it looks great, is just not ready in my opinion. I'm sticking with 1080p until 4k can do 144hz. I have a 1080ti, which is overkill for 1080p, but guess what? it's flawless. Together with G-Sync. I'll take 144fps over struggling to maintain 60 any day too.
