"So I would grow a heart?"
-
“Not exactly. You would create a heart, entirely from scratch, and then integrate it into the body. It’s a bloody complicated technique that usually involves Transmutation, Anatomy, and Alchemy in addition to normal healing magic to work, but you can use it to heal what would otherwise be permanent injuries.”
-
"Interesting. I like that concept."
-
“Yes, but for the foreseeable future we’ll stick to the simple.”
-
"Alright. So, what's first?"
-
He hands her a piece of raw bacon. “Channel energy through this without cooking it.
-
"Seriously? Bacon will help with magic?"
-
“Pig tissue is the closest thing to people, and bacon is thin and full of fat. When you heal people, you channel energy into them to help them. Too much and you’ll cook them though.”
-
"Alright?" Natalie took the fatty strip and held it out in her left hand. It took her a moment to try it, although she soon felt energy leaving her own body and entering the bacon. It wouldn't cook it, but she soon felt herself starting to get weaker.

“So far so good. You’ve got some remarkable control.”
-
"I'm just trying not to overdo it, is all."
-
“Just keep at it. This will be good for maintaining your endurance and control.”
-
"Alright. And when do I stop?"
-
“When you can’t sustain it and consciousness.”
-
"And what then, I pass out?"
-
“No, stop just before that.”
-
Nat kept it up for what felt to her like at least an hour, before she dropped the bacon.
-
“Nice job.” Verdantus says with a cheery thumbs up.
-
"So... What's next...?"
-
“For now, you rest. You just drained most of your magic.”
-
Nat just sat back on the ground, before she laid out there.
-
"Okay. So how long do I practice this for?"
