I'm glad D2 did away with random rolls on weapons from D1

As several people keep voicing their desire for the random rolls of weapons from D1, I for one am very happy they went away for D2. I currently enjoy the fact that once I earn that coveted weapon, I know it will be the 'right' roll. With the addition of masterworks, I think that gives a small degree of customizability that will not change the weapon significantly but can mean a lot to those that enjoy the pleasure of min-maxing...

People here won't really agree. They all crave a grind so bad as an excuse to play they don't care how much time it wasted before. Or that there are far better ways to create replay value

  • I happen to disagree with you on this one with random rolls people will keep coming back to the game to try to get the weapon with the rolls they want like getting a handcannon with the rolls the the fatebringer has but now with the rolls locked the players get the weapon that the other person has and calles it done but with me and few others we just want random rolls but that's my opinion but we all have different opinions on this.

First, we aren't "earning" anything, it's RNG still as to what weapons drop. Second, what is the "small degree of customization" exactly? Third, it's not about min-max-ing ( for the "perfect" perk set) it's getting different perks and trying to make them work for you or the perks that you want and work best for you (not the ones mtashed or datto say are the best).

    • Jury is out for me on this one. Masterworks is better than I expected.

      • I think Masterworks are basically a way to add something to the duplicate loot situation. Its a bandaid of sorts, but not bad. But yeah, I couldn't agree more. Its already randomized which loot you receive, we don't need even more RNG with what the perks are.

The thing about the random rolls, was for me at least. There was those moments where I had to actually look at what dropped. Test out different techniques, and builds using the gun. Now, I'm pretty sure I've already been through the entire list of purples. It's basically just auto scrap everything. There's no variation what so ever. At least with rolling perks, there was the every gun could be different element. Effectively creating a huge loot pool out of the same weapon. Which felt like more guns in the game, because every duplicate would of been different. You all asked for it, so reap what you sow. New guns will be in the form of dlc. GG Also, a part that hurts me. I was sold on D2 being more rewarding (loot)! But there is already no loot worth having. So whats the point of just loot to get scrapped? Wheres the reward? It's a grind game for shards, that theres nothing to spend them on, because every item/armor is basically the exact same!

        • Random rolls = Most, if not all, weapons can be made good. Set rolls = A few weapons will be good while the rest will always be bad. Some people don't like grinding, but that's why I, along with many others, play loot based games.

Well you clearly don’t have experience on the matter since exotics have always had fixed rolls .... and it’s not hard to spot fixed rolls on legendary weapons kill reward progression and replay value.
