Edited by Nomad: 12/16/2017 3:13:44 AMI have yet to see an argument for not repealing NN that wasn't based on nightmare scenarios reddit babies dreamed up or just pure misinformation. That ISPs could and would block off all of the internet so the only way to access sites is to purchase them like tv channels is idiocy. It doesn't even take into account that the way access to the internet is sold is predominately by speed. The only thing likely to change with plans is that they can allow you to purchase extra packages on top of your base plan speed to increase speeds for certain sites like Netflix. They cannot throttle ANY traffic down below your plans base speed because that would be illegal, with or without NN. Plus this allows them to recoup losses from having to subsidize the ridiculous amount of bandwidth these streaming sites are using. Notice how these sites are all behind NN, since it means they don't have to worry at all about how much they screw over the ISPs. Also now any small ISP that wants to enter into competition has a lower barrier of entry since they no longer need to pay the FCC for licensing and submit plans for everything thing they do to the FCC for approval. For people who claim the FCC are shills for big ISPs, I don't know why you'd support all new ISPs to having to go to thru alleged shills for approval of everything. Lastly, even if all the ISPs decided against following the laws and running their business in the sensible way, the way it was repealed allows the FCC at any time to reclassify the internet as a title II at their discretion. Now please ignore all the points I made because google and twitter told you how the big meanies at the FCC want to take your internet from you.

Facts, who needs them....🤗
-
God, can you please put Ajit Pai down?
-
Right because all the little guy phone companies wouldn't exist with Title II classification! Oh wait.... Giving ISP's the ability to charge for content provider access is positively competitive. It will of course force companies like Netflix to raise prices. Which will make room for the little guy content provider to make money with a cheaper service since they don't deliver as much simultaneous content. Which will put downward pressure on Netflix price as they attempt to retain market share. It will also create the opportunity for the larger ISP'S to lease or charge smaller ISP's bandwidth to deliver internet service. Remember southwestern? How about Bell or MCI? I bet some of the older among us remember others. Let's not forget it was government regulation that forced industry mergers for telecoms thus creating the footprint of the Comcasts, Verizons, and ATT'S. The internet is the most free, ungoverned, anarchist concept ever to be developed and most of you are demanding a government entity restrict it. THAT should be what outrages everyone.
-
Ah Net Neutrality. The internet's most popular religion.
-
Would anyone provide personal examples as to how your internet experience has improved since 2015? My own personal experience was unchanged.
-
The hole thing was just liberal propaganda nothing more folks act like the internet was different 3 years ago
-
My meme about this is finally recognizable.
-
If your ISP does shady tactics, get a new one. Everybody has dozens to choose from and they’re all super competitive. Net Neutrality is a liberal scam to prevent hard working startup companies like Verizon from making any money while the corrupt middle class get babied by the government.

You know you've -blam!-ed up when even God presses F to pay respects.
-
Look at Portugal. That's the future. Politicians don't give a -blam!- about people in the United States. It's all about who will make them rich once they leave their office. Then they give huge dollars back and get cushy posts. Ajit Pai should be arrested for working against the American people to enrich himself.

It's still gotta get through congress

Edited by Endless: 12/15/2017 6:23:22 AMAmerica deserves this badly. Not sorry for you at all. Perhaps we will finally see less crying on these forums next month. That will be nice.
-
Can someone explain this whole thing about net neutrality to me?
-
Thanks Obama!
-
And? I never cared for NN

-
It isn't dead yet ya dingus.
-
Shits -blam!-ing stupid I hope the FCC does get taken to court and we get net neutrality back.
-
Not gone. It won't be repealed. And why did anyone think that a 5 person group was enough to take a realistic vote?
