Without Bungie providing the percentage increase of chance for an exotic to drop, how do we know if ToC does anything at all?
We can’t rely on Bungie’s veracity here either. Think, first they throttled experience gain without telling us but allowed us to buy fire team medallions that would have been pointless if you were being throttled. Then they “fixed” the issue of throttling xp gain but then DOUBLED the amount of xp needed to level up without telling a soul.
Based on that track record, what’s keeping them from releasing ToC as a placebo for us to burn through the thousands of shards we have? How does one prove that random drops have increased when said drops are RANDOM?!?
UPDATE: So after reading many of your comments it seems as if ToC is in fact BUGGED and REDUCES your chance of gaining exotics when activated. My recommendation is to avoid using ToC at all costs if you value getting exotic drops.
Bungie is now on Christmas break so it’s doubtful we will hear anything on this issue nor will it be resolved any time soon.
Here is a link to Kackis speaking on the issue as well: https://youtu.be/m7efJD5jImE
UPDATE 2: Bungie is officially looking into the ToC matter: https://twitter.com/DeeJ_BNG/status/942446254260236288?s=17

Edited by Antosino: 12/17/2017 1:43:22 PMI replied to the video with this, but thought I'd post it here too: ______________ Look, people are much more likely to notice a bad luck spree when they have a coin active and are actively waiting for an Exotic. When you play normally you just assume you'll get one now and then and aren't tracking how long it's been for the most part. You pop a coin, that all changes. All of these gaps between drop times would be within acceptable norms without a coin, meaning that a 1% chance isn't going to change much. Also, keep in mind that people are pretty much ten times as likely to post a complaint than a compliement. Everybody is going to complain when they get nothing, but very few are going to chime in when they have good luck. This is proof of nothing and there is in NO way any confirmation of a bug. None of this is "evidence" - it is simply a decent number of personal, unverified testimonies. It's hardly applicable. To me this just seems like some clickbait attempt to finally have some unique, BREAKING NEWS!!! in a D2 video since most of the rest are boring, duplicated content (I mean from everybody, not just you). ***** I'm not saying it's not bugged, it very well could be -- ***** -- I'm saying that what this is based on, along with what most people freaking out are looking at, means pretty much nothing. Unfortunately, we probably won't ever have concrete evidence unless Bungie provides number, which they won't. Until somebody is willing to play 100+ hours both with and without a coin, multiple times, we won't have a clear dataset; and even then that would be the ABSOLUTE minimum to even BEGIN to create a theory. Taking a bunch of random complaints and comments, taking into consideration the points I made above, is quite literally entirely meaningless. Edit: I feel like people are also forgetting that Exotic drop rates were nerfed in many areas, and we don't know by how much. This means it's very possible that even WITH a coin your drop rates is lower than before.

I played for 3 1/2 hours yesterday and didn’t get one, so yes it’s 3 of crap in my book. 2 days earlier I was getting 1 an hour...
-
My RNG is rubbish anyway, I have a feeling that it is because I put so much time in the game lowers my drop rates. I've put 26+ days in, mainly as a hunter, and a friend of mine who have put 6+ days in, mostly as Titan, has more hunter exotics than I do. I have used 3 three of coins so far and the first dropped nothing and the second and third dropped one each. 2 exotics in 12 hours is about par for me. With both exotics being duplicates as well. Also, the Fated Engram gave me a duplicate as well. Strongly feel Bungie should give me my legendary shards back at the very least, but let's face It, that's never going to happen.

Edited by magburner: 12/17/2017 1:05:50 PMMy experiences in D1 with 3oC have taught me that they usually drop one exotic every seven or so coins that you use. This drop rate is also tempered by the amount of hours you put into the game. The more hours you play, the less you get. For example: I would play four or five hours a night religiously, but see very few exotic weapons, compared to the number of hours invested. A friend of mine who only played two nights a week, about six hours total, would literally have exotic drop after exotic drop. when averaged over the course of a week, we would both have about the same number of exotic weapons. The only difference was time invested. This same mechanic is in Destiny 2. I switched roles with my friend, he became the regular, whilst I became the casual, thanks to the crappy game, and it was I that was getting exotic drop, after exotic drop. I even got to 305 before he managed, despite only putting in the fraction of the time. The game will also give you the drop that you need, if you only play a few hours a week. I have had a suspicion that this was the case in D1, and I believe that it is the case in D2.

Feels like I'm getting less.

No fix for dup drops... The 3oC is a total waste of shards... and time! Mercury is a never ending loop of the same trash, endless grinding to get the three weird materials, but only space to hold three? WTF... Oh and you guessed it, reskins on all our "new" Gear this whole "DLC" is GARBAGE... But yeah 3 of coins is the topper, these things are here to clean out the 3 or 4K shards we gathered doing the rest of the stupid crap in this game
-
I popped 5 coins on three characters yesterday. On the first public event for all 3 characters I got exotic emblems. Went 2 days with no exotic before ToC on events. No exotics on strikes, 3 NF and 15 heroics.
-
We know it’s frustrating when there isn’t enough of a dialog with the development team. You have our commitment that we’re going to do a better job going forward.
-
Someone at Bungie is just trying piss everyone off... Its the only explanation
-
Hot cabbage like the rest of the heap
-
I don't know own if it's coincidence or not, but I dropped a 3oc last night. Played 4 hours of Public Events only just to see what happens. I didn't even get a blue. Every time. Just jumping from planet to planet event to event. My only reward each time (and almost all were heroic) was a token from the loot chest. Some random kills got me a blue but nothing from the chest. Playing today with the Vanguard Bright Paragon and it's business as usual. No exotics yet but some purples doing strikes. Just tokens and blues from Public Events. Been going for 2 hours now.
-
THEY DONT FÛCKING WORK!!!!! AT ALL!!!!! EVER!!!!
-
Destiny is dead.
-
7 Hours straight using 3oC and no drops at all. Definately broken. I also stopped getting radiolaria cultures altogther...none...and I had plenty of room in my inventory. Something is definately wrong with 3oC.
-
Yes I am done wasting glimmer. Just like the fake Cayde maps
-
So where exactly are the actual facts? No offense but this is all speculation, don’t really care about any streamers opinion. It’s frustrating for sure but it’s literally been like 2 days and everyone is on this 3oC witch hunt all of a sudden. Coupled with the fact that D2 already feels hated on the forums, makes it pretty easy to breed these conspiracies. I’m not defending Bungie, I’m defending the truth. And right now we don’t have the truth, just more angry rumors and opinions.
-
I'm wondering if they aren't meant to increase your baseline chance, but instead implement "bad luck protection" like Legendaries on WoW; every time you DONT get an Exotic with the 3oC active, your chance goes up slightly until you get one. Might explain why people get nothing and then all of a sudden they do once the coin expires, and why it makes the coin feel worthless since you spend most of the buff's duration building your drop chance. Totally random guess, though.
-
I’ve used them 3 times so far and haven’t received one exotic. Trash.
-
It’s bugged rn. Using it will reduce your exotic drop rates to 0%
-
I’m sure bungie knows EXACTLY what’s going on with 3oC...just like they knew EXACTLY what was going on with the XP throttle. They’ll put out some bullshit statement saying how shocked they are and it’s not working the way they wanted it to. They will apologize and say a fix is in the works. Scumbags
-
Its christmas time and ppl still play destiny 2? Poor things. No money to buy new games i suppose.
-
It's also in the notes that they lowered the drop rate of legendaries and exotics from public events to try to make people run strikes. I wouldn't expect much from public events anymore 3oC or no 3oC. But if they're doing nothing in strikes runs then there is a problem for sure.
-
Used 4, nada so far. Think it’s a gimmick.
-
Trying to get people to blow their shards so you have to grind for more. That's replayability, working as intended.
-
Wait a second....
ppl still play this game? VERY SAD!!!
-
Edited by Caito: 12/17/2017 6:20:03 AMThe rate is increased by 4%
But it is actually 0.04%
