Removing Eververse is the first step to fixing this mess.
For many of you who believe eververse isnt the biggest problem in this game, you are correct. But you seem to be missing the overreaching problem that Eververse presents. I, like you, dont care about cosmetic gear. But bare with me here, im not trying to be condescending.
When shaders, ships, and emotes are nearly exclusively locked behind a paywall, when most of these cosmetics were attainable through grinding in game content in the previous game; there is an issue. Bungie clearly put all of this loot only so that we would have to buy it.
Also with a dlc expansion having more than 60 percent of its new items also locked behind a paywall, there is an issue. It shows that new content is not morivated to create a new unique expirience in the Destiny universe, but instead yet again how to make more money.
This dawning event, completely obvious that it is purely a money grabbing event to all.
My point being Eververse represents the focus of the developers to gear most of its attainable loot system that D1 was built upon into a microtransaction machine.
Ask yourself, "why were perks and god rolls removed from the game for mods and masterworks?" Because there is no differences or disparities in any of the armors of this game once it is 335. You could almost claim this was by design in order to have the same 12 reskinned armor sets only to introduce new exotic appearing gear in the paywall to drive those who do care about cosmetics toward buying it. All armor in this game is cosmetic now that mods and masterworks are universal.
All in all, eververse is far from the main problem. But it is tangled up in the web of several huge issues plaguing the game
