Prologue: To a Place Once Called Home
Doing something a little different. Haven't seen much of these, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Treasure hunt! Well... sort of. Just trust me it'll be fun. If anyone has any adventurers, treasure hunters, explorers, or anyone who fits the bill, please. Throw them here. Or not. It honestly doesn't matter that much in the big picture. Just trying to add some variety here. And yes, there will be a reward.
A (Not Really) Random Bar, Dojoville, 11:19pm Sarah Childs walked into the building casually, soon sitting down at the bar. She eyed the people there, making sure she wasn't being watched, and then proceeded to wait for the bartender to come around. Once he did, she got out the money in advance, and placed her order. "Hey. Get me a glass of that weird stuff," she said, a calm yet spirited air to her voice, "The glowy one. I forget what it's called." The bartender nodded, grabbing a bottle and pouring the glowing liquid into a glass. She paid, got her drink, and took a sip. Satisfied, she assured the bartender she didn't want anything else. But that wasn't necessarily her choice. A man, dressed in a very tasteful business suit, sat down next to her. He was a fairly familiar acquaintance of hers, and it had been years since she had last seen him. Wavy brown hair and green eyes. It was like it she was back in time. But now, she recognized her former friend as a thief who prided himself on how much he could pass as a legitimate business man. William. "I'll have a glass of... well... you know." The man said to the bartender, who would soon move to the back in an effort to find the drink. Will turned to Sarah, smiling slightly with a look in his eye. It was hard to tell if his emotion was genuine, but regardless. She still had a big problem to deal with. "Hello Sarah." He said, his tone cold yet calm, "Nice to see you again." She looked at him curiously, wondering where this conversation would go... "Yeah? What the fuсk do you want, Will?" She replied, "I just want to sit here, have a drink or two, and leave. You know, like a normal person." "You and I both know that I can't do that. I told you what would happen if you came back here, Sarah." "Please, just let me go. I don't want anybody to get killed today." "Oh don't worry. No one in here is going to get a scratch. You on the other hand... well... you're not going to be in here. Boys! Take her out back." ------------------------------ Back Alleyway, Three minutes later... "You son of a-" she said, before being kicked in the stomach. Sarah spat at the ground in defiance as the man looked at her. "Give me the device. Now." He said. And with her silence he ordered his men to hit her again, and again, and again. That was until a small black, pyramid-shaped device fell from her jacket. William reached down slowly, picking it up with great caution. He inspected it, verifying its authenticity. Once he was satisfied, he slipped it into his own pocket. Yet Sarah remained silent. "Thank you for your contributions," he said, taunting her, as a sleek black car pulled up at the entrance to the alley. He got into it, closed the passenger door with a loud thud, and drove off. "Well, well, well. Look who we have 'ere," one of the grunts said, as he felt through her hair. A bandit probably, judging by his accent and demeanor. "What's a pretty lass like you doin' in a place like this, eh? Oh, we're gonna have some fun." He was about to do something, until a piercing whistle got the man's attention. He took his hand away from her face, and the others let her go. They went inside, closing the heavy metal door behind them. She was alone. Sarah stood up, spitting residual blood at the ground. She limped out of the alleyway, and sat down against the brick wall of an abandoned building next to the bar. Taking out her lighter, she lit a cigarette, and resigned herself to the reality of her situation. She had just lost one of the most important artifacts of her career to a complete idiot, who would probably just sell it on the black market, and had barely any idea on where he could have gone. Here's hoping luck would shift in her favor...
Open! Mainly for interaction. If you're interested at all in the plot itself, tell me in a spoiler. It'll dictate what she tells you. Only need a few people though.

And if you are wanting to partake in this interesting Uncharted/Tomb Radier-style treasure hunt, please don't bring anyone super OP or magical. Takes the fun out of it.
• Movement would catch her eye as a figure emerged from the shadows, wavered as one does when it is hard to focus, and came to as an older man. His body was adorned with a heavy coat, and worn blue jeans. The tired choice of clothing seemed heavier, and had improvised armoring on and in them, dented and scratched from conflicts past. His green eyes caught hers, the quid of tobacco in his cheek quivering as it was chewed, then with a seemingly heruculean noise, he turned his head and spat into the dark. Two holsters hugged his hips, each holding a .45 with heavier frame and longer barrel, judging by the altered holsters, and a pack straddled his back, a hunting rifle strapped to it. He crouched down, and gestured to her wounds

  • "Tough luck." A man's voice said as he exited a nearby doorway, leaning on the wall across from her. "Need a hand with those wounds? I have my ways of helping."

  • "And you are?" Sarah asked, wary of random strangers that seemingly come from nowhere.

  • "Gabriel Hawthorne. Gabe. Four. Haw. Thorne. Whatever you may wish to call me..." Gabriel, if that was his name, bowed dramatically, looking up at her. He gave a wild grin before standing tall. "Physician. MD. Doctor. Whatever you call it, I'm a healer. Of sorts."

  • "Well, well. Healer eh?" She said, lightening up in her tone. "Say, if you're so good at it... would you mind giving me a hand?" She gestured to herself and her wounds, almost over dramatically. Sarah wouldn't be getting anywhere if she didn't get help, and she needed to get moving. Fast. It was only a matter of time until Will got out of the city. With the artifact.

  • "Happily." Gabriel knelt down in front of her, holding a strange rune like charm in his hand. He mumbled something, placing the rune on her chest and then stepping away. Within a few moments, her wounds were healed almost completely. Save for a scratch or bruise here and there.

  • "Huh," she said, stretching. "Magic I suppose? Thanks for that by the way. I guess I owe you an explanation. After all, you did just heal me." Sarah took a breath, actually feeling relatively decent for the first time that night. Except for the fact that her only lead had just been stolen, she was actually doing alright. "Okay. Long story short, I came here to get a former friend of mine onboard with this 'investigation' I'm currently working on. Aka a hell of a treasure hunt. That... *sigh* My point is, he didn't really like the idea of me showing up again. So he had his people beat me up, steal my shit, and went out of town so he could probably just sell it on the black market. So..."

  • "So we get it back!" Gabriel looked over his shoulder, pointing down the alleyway. "Pretty sure they went this way." Gabriel started walking before suddenly pivoting around and walking the other way. "Nope. This way!" It seemed he was on board with following her. For... One reason or another.

  • "Nah," Sarah said, eying his enthusiasm, "They left by car. Probably to a train yard a few miles west. We're not going to get anywhere on foot. Unless..." She looked over to where her car was (a rental, as she couldn't take an chances here), and smiled. Just a little bit of hope. "Say, you up for car chase?"

  • "Always!" Gabriel chirped happily, rushing toward the car and sliding over it's hood onto the other side. "Dibs on shotgun."

  • "Heh," she said, appreciating what he was saying. "Well, hope in!" She started driving, eying the road for any sign of the car.

  • "Ya know what we're looking for, partner?" Gabriel's English accent disappeared, being replaced by a half assed cowboy one. One that he probably got from watching John Wayne movies.

  • "Black car. Heading for an old train yard. Probably a part of a larger convoy." Sarah said, checking her surroundings, "If you don't mind me asking. Why are you wanting to help?"

"Hey," she said, "I can understand that. Trust me. It'll pay. I'll tell you the details once I get my artifact back." She narrowed her eyes on the road, violently changing her course to get off on a side road. Since they were now away from the city, the roads would become narrower, and more dangerous. The road she had taken had led into a forest, presumably near... somewhere. And so, she stopped on the dirt road she was on, and got out of the car. "Here. Their not too far. Three minutes walk from here to the old trainyard. And I know I promised a car chase, but it seems they got here too quickly."

  • "Oh believe when I say, this isn't my first time visiting this damned train yard. I've stopped WAYYYY to many drug deals here..." Gabriel actually chuckled, walking in the direction of the train yard.

  • Soon, they would come across it, and boy where they hardcore. In the mess of old train cars and metal that was present in the clearing, it had appeared that a relatively white large transport ship was parked at one end, while William's own car was parked at the other. What was the most interesting is what met in the middle, a group of people talking in what looked to be in the fashion of a negotiation or drug deal. "Bloody hell," Sarah said, "He's selling to -blam!-ing military now?" Sure enough, the group in possession of the transport ship consisted of two Atlas Titan's, a dozen armed men, and a few advanced robotic units. It made William's men look like a bunch of whiny street thugs in comparison. Which they were, this was just a good reference.

  • "I'm more concerned about why the bloody hell the Frontier Militia is making deals with thugs..." Gabriel mumbled, eyeballing the Atlas Titans. "How the hell are we supposed to stop this? Get the artifact back??"

  • "I don't know," she replied, surveying the deal that was going on before her. "I'm sure as hell that we can't beat them here. Not now. Charging in would probably just get us killed. But..." She paused briefly, thinking about... an idea. "Is there any way that we could put a tracker on that ship without them knowing?"

  • "You're in luck." Gabriel started looking through his pockets and cloak before eventually pulling a small circular disc out. He held in between his fingers, showing it off. "Usually made for monsters like werewolves... But this can be an exception."
