People only feel comfortable to complain when others complain. Going against the grain is now a rarity. Terrible games chalked full of outrageously bad microtransactions are still praised because the general consensus is that those games are good. People tell themselves that it's ok because it's optional & cosmetic, but don't stop to think some dumb kid is wasting their parents cash on some recolored pixels.
