Dale did not return the grin. The only expression on his face was a stone cold mask. He leaned in towards the teen, an grabbed the shoulder once more, this time with added pressure.
"Worse than jail? You'd have to commit some pretty bad crimes to go to places like that."
The voice dropped to a whisper when he spoke next, to avoid attention.
"What have you seen?"

“Oh only the aftermath of the Third World War, my parents killed, the criminal underground, killer robots, assassin guilds, and mercenaries. Nothing too crazy.” He remarked, completely deadpan.

"You shouldn't speak so lightly. Shrugging off pain only makes it worse later on down the line." The man let go, wiping the hand he had grabbed the thief with on his pants. "I just hope you didn't hurt anyone who didn't deserve it."
-
“No. I don’t like killing. Don’t really like even hurting people.” He replied, a bit more quietly and honestly.

Dale crossed his arms, exhaling with a sigh of relief. He wasn't dealing with a murderer, unless the teen was as good at lying as the previous incident. For now, he decided to trust him. "No parents? No wonder you're pinching pockets..." Thinking for a moment, he put out his hand, as a sign of piece. "Again, I'm Dale, but I never got your name. It's not much, but I co-run a tavern in town. We're always in need of extra hands, and it provides decent pay and a bed. Even if you don't want the job, we're always open for people who need shelter or a talk."

“Well... not biological parents... I guess I have parents again?” The boy stopped for a minute, but then decided to return the handshake. “I’m just visiting... I don’t live around here.” He said, almost awkwardly. “My name’s... uh... Miles...” He said, a bit unsure of the much larger man.
-
"Miles... Do your parents know you are pinching pockets? I'd certainly hope not." The man gave a firm shake and let go, taking a look around the square, as people began to notice the lingerers. Scratching the back of his head, the man spoke again. "Good Knight's Night, 'case you need anything."
-
“More or less?” He said with a shrug and a mischievous grin. He didn’t really want to name-drop the two he spent the majority of his time with, and so he didn’t.

"Hm... I won't comment on your parents' parenting ability, certainly not something I have experience in myself. However, I'd stay off the pockets for now. Surely you've seen what a petty thief earns here in a world of anarchy. A missing hand or head, that's what. Lucky, you've been." He sighed, heaving his massive barrel of a chest and running a hand through the thick red hair. "Keep safe. My offer will always stand." With that, he began walking off, with a final wave, and pat to make sure his wallet was still there.
Sorry, notifs have been wack, missed Jen's and yours, no alert for when they came.
