Separation of Church and State

Okay, first let's start with a little story. For a pretty long time there was this mmo that was and still is the world's largest and longest surviving mmo. World of Warcraft. They started fairly big for the game at the time and as they grew they introduced many of new and exciting things to do within their world. One being and focusing on PvP. Now by no means was their PvP battlegrounds and arena the epitome of multiplayer PvP. But it worked with the game instead of against it. Later the same company would branch off into a more focused PvP world. Overwatch was born. The game takes about any aspect you can think of when it comes to an fps and tries to fit it in properly. So far, they haven't really messed up. I would say it's the best PvP oriented fps out there. What does any of this have to do with Bungie and it's baby Destiny. They can make a better game if they split it into two. The base game feels like it could be an amazing open world but what I feel is holding it back is the large crucible focus they're also trying to give to people. It's hard to try to blend the two without one being lopsided by more things to do. This game needs to be subscription based for this to work properly and honestly take my money for this because I've been wanting to play WoW on my Xbox for the longest time but if I can have an mmo fps that's close and brings me to a world just as rich in detail. I'll take it. And then when I get bored I did my duty for the day. I can hop into crucible and do some awesome PvP that isn't inhibited by this vast world that's being made. And it can have everything that a PvP fps should have and more. Maybe a horde mode. Maybe even a glitch in the system of the Infinite Forrest that takes me and my fireteam to the past during some huge battle and we get to see a short (hourish) story of how things came to be. Maybe even seeing from the eyes of the enemy. Just a suggestion. This games fault isn't eververse at all. It's the fact that it feels like you're trying to put 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag. Split equally give them their own teams. Make good content and make good money. That's the smart thing to do. And the funny thing is you can do this model with literally anything. Even Call of Duty.

    • The problem isn't the Crucible. The problem is trying to balance the Crucible like a SHOOTER (instead of an RPG) and trying to model the game play after HALO. This game could THRIVE with a unfied sandbox if Bungie were willing to accept a PVP milieu that is more like Titanfall 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcqWR0UiQiM Imagine what you could do in PVE, if PVP were balanced like this? Powerful weapons. Quick TTK which allows snipers and shotguns to be freely used without dominating play, because primaries kill fast enough to be a threat. Lots of build diversity because the play is centered around "counters" not 1:1 balance like Halo. (The irony is that there is more build diversity in Titanfall 2...a comp shooter...than there is in Destiny 2 right now). This is why you never hear me say that "PVP is the problem"...and that Bungie needs to get rid of it. The problem is Bungie's (and partially the community's) clinging to the legacy of HALO's PVP. Beccause you're right. PVP along HALO's lines is simply not compatible with being part of a loot-based RPG...and sharing the same gear and abilities.

    • Splitting the game would only further fragment a game with a declining player base. Not to mention paid DLC fragments the game enough, but paid DLC has come to be an acceptable way of delivering new content. As for monthly payments, I don't think that would rest well with the target casual audience this game has. In addition to that, Bungie has already stated they have trouble and have had trouble pushing out enough new content to a game after it releases. Subscription based games hinge on the fact that good new content is released regularly to make the subscription worth it. Under the publisher ACTIVISION, the Destiny series will follow an extremely similar payment model to COD. If you really think the payment model should change, make your voice heard to ACTIVISION, not to bungie.
