Hello, desticles, ex-desticles and whoever else is reading this. I feel during the change from D1 to D2 with all the excitement and ... ummm ...... controversy, we didn’t spare a moment to give D1 the goodbye it deserved. Yes, I know it is still there to play but the development for D1 has stopped. It is finished. There will also be people who played Destiny into the ground with hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours of play who will come here and say “ugh, but D1 was shit too! Game was a mess that people did nothing but moan about on forums” ... I didn’t. There is nothing wrong with admitting that it was great -blam!-ing fun! I know it had flaws, many of them. PvP was unbalanced and bosses could be dropped in 10 seconds, metas of a few hugely overpowered weapons were constant, if you didn’t have a ballerhorn you were not but a bum. I could go on ... By standards of the masses it was not near perfect. Though, to me, it was. It was like that old pair of shoes you can’t can’t throw away, they are battered all falling to pieces but they are comfortable as hell. It is the people who thought like that who I’m getting at. It gave us many great memories and huge moments. Remember the loot cave? That Kermit guy deleting that kids stuff? Randel? One shot ted? Suros being the PvP king pin? Final round? Hammer forged/shot package felwinters lie? Titan bubble and wolf packing a boss in 10 seconds? The excitement you and your team had standing in-front Atheon with a slither of health left for your first time? When you were that lucky asshole who dropped a Vex at the end? OG pocket infinity? Finally completing that bounty of having to get kills with that shitty white hand cannon for the first curse? Thorn? .... okay, I can’t understand the mixed opinions on this one 😕 Destiny to us that loved it was so much more than what it shows on the exterior. So, if you care to, remind me. Tell me what your favourite stuff from D1 was. What you liked about it. What moments you loved. Why you loved it. I’d love to read it. Picking up your bounties, strapping up your best weapons (TLW was mostly always featured for me. Loved the animation and rapid fire. The old but modern look of it) and just getting down to some grinding. Be it with a few friends or solo with a few beers I loved it! Crazy chaotic 6v6, mildly sweaty. That moment you would fly down to your favourite map and just think ... “okay, I’m about to throw down, mother -blam!-ers!” Also loved the confluxs on VoG. Being in the middle of the fight was unreal. Running around with a TDYK like a badass on constant half heath or less. I secretly loved it when a few players went down (unless it was me, haha) and shit got very crazy. Trying to cover middle and left! I would always choose the hardest side. I didn’t even mind failing and starting again! I loved being elected to run the lamps in crota too because I was a hunter. For the same reason as the conflux part. Then having them say “just snipe the ogre at the .... what, how the hell did you get past it without killing it?” Being the sneaky snake of a hunter I was I could do it every time. [/spoiler]
