I don’t know if this topic has ever been brought up before, but I thought it would be fun to talk about.
This random thought has entered my mind a couple of times: if Rasputin and Charlemagne are both named after historical figures, what other ones might there be? Well, I’m certainly not here to speculate about that, mainly because there's very little info on the Warminds already. But with the inevitability of Rasputin's reappearance in Gods of Mars (and who knows, possibly Charlemagne) looming over the horizon, I’ve wondered. Who do you guys think would make a good Warmind?
There should be some rules set. Don’t worry, not huge ones, but:
1. By "historical figure" I don’t necessarily mean people from ancient history. For the purposes of this post, the people who qualify should be in modern history, but not the modern day. Think anyone before the 2000s of some significance.
2. Trying to fit the pattern with names here, base your ideas off of people known only by one name. For example, the name "Stalin" is pretty synonymous with Joseph Stalin of the USSR. Don’t use a name with more than one meaning, like "Tesla", which could refer to the inventor, the coil, or the car, and don’t use names that could refer to several people.
Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from not following these rules. They’re just guidelines.
So here’s the bottom line:
Choose a historical figure you think would make a good Warmind.
If you really want to get into some OC shit, give your Warmind a personality that ties into their namesake, or a fictional history. (It seems that Rasputin might have been the only one with a personality since he was the special one who defied his programming, but for the purposes of this post let’s assume all of the Warminds have their own unique behavioral patterns)
Take this as far as you’d like to. Write a full-on character description for your fanmade Warmind, or just mention a historical figure that you think would be a funny AI. Whatever man.
Now for my own ideas:
The two historical figures I think would make good Warminds are Napoleon and Nobunaga.
I envision Napoleon, of course based on Napoleon Bonaparte, as similar to Rasputin, but slightly different. Obviously, instead of speaking in Russian and making references to Russian culture, he would use French. Napoleon might not be nearly as intelligent as Rasputin, but would have more sway over technology and speak more directly rather than being cryptic like Rasputin is.
Now, Nobunaga, inspired by the somewhat well-known ancient Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga, could be a stark contrast. Instead of scheming, Nobunaga would be a more direct, animalistic force ravaging all of his enemies. He’d make reference to Japan for obvious reasons, and maybe even have a more Eastern aesthetic to the stuff he does. Maybe he'll even be considered a demon.
Have fun. Or post random salt. I don’t really care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
