If that’s the only thing that matters to you, jogging or running is better.

Depends on the speed, time and distance of either as well as the proper heart rate. Which mode makes no difference. If you have the bike and a decent place to ride, do that. If you don't have the bike, run.

Biking is less detrimental to knees etc.

Why not both? Go cycling early morning then jogging at evening.

A proper diet. I prefer biking over jogging mainly because it's not as strenuous on my joints. I don't burn much when I jog compared to biking. On the other side, my friend that I go to the gym with loves jogging, and burns more calories jogging than he does biking. Just go with whichever one you enjoy more.
