From IGN:
After the scheduled March 6 maintenance concludes, For Honor console players around the world can play on dedicated servers. The transition to dedicated server infrastructure for the game is aimed at improving matchmaking and overall stability across all PvP modes.
I'm hoping this will give Bungie an idea of how to save Crucible.

I doubt it costs much to run a server for the 20 people still playing that train wreck.

Edited by TexasJedi_705: 3/7/2018 9:14:16 PMLet the crucible burn Heh, seems I've angered a few members of the salt crowd
-
Dedicated servers won't save this abomination.
-
This is Year 4 on the Destiny franchise. There is no chat from Bungie about this topic, ever. If it was happening next year, they would be shouting it from the rooftops. The sad truth is they can't even fix whats wrong with the core gameplay this year, what make you think they would invest in dedis for a dead game?
-
Lag isn't an issue in D2. Not sure the point of this.
-
Dedicated servers.Sounds just great.I would like Bungie did the same.
-
We have a mixture of a dedicated server that stores data for you so you don't have to download all of it and also able to stream it. Connection to activity is peer to peer, and the peers just download it from a singular server or a multitude of servers connected to each other. Its a complex system. Asking to rework the system would rework how we go to orbit and how we launch missions. That is changing the engine and bringing other developers like the art team and software engineering. Not so much of a financial commitment, but more of a time commitment in which they don't have with the new schedule they go by. The only problem I see lag is raids when there is memory leaks at the last checkpoint or the host has a terrible ISP.
-
Dedicated servers are not gonna solve 2 primary and boring loot problem
-
Would be nice but D2 complexity >>>> Honor
-
Problem is OP, youtubers and twitch streamer broke into Bungie and made them make D2 crap, so no1 would see them smash the Bungie vault open, and steal all the monies. No monies in the vault = no dedicated servers. Clearly Trumps fault If rumours bad news Brian is gonna direct D3 are true though, ill defo be back for that... *puts penis back in toaster*
-
dedicated servers, wont save a bad game.
-
D2's Crucible is imploding. Throwing money at it would be almost as smart as using said cash for toilet paper.
-
Edited by Dr25697: 3/7/2018 2:57:20 PMGoing peer to peer is hard. Also... Who cares... The current server system can handle the ten people playing at any given time.
-
Edited by bwaksy: 3/7/2018 8:21:33 PMHave you ever seen a black host migration screen in Destiny 2? People who lag will still lag on dedicated servers, but also people who live close to the server will get a huge advantage over people who have high ping, and they will have high ping because there is no server close to them, they will have to connect to some european/USA server. This is a horrible solution for global game like Destiny 2. RIght now you have the same latency to other players as they have to you. It's fair as it could be for a game over the internet, nobody gets advantage because he lives close to a server, nobody gets advantage because he is the host. Asking to change this system for dedicated servers is wrong.
-
You do realise that D2 isn't to bad. Also dedicated servers still gets lag.
-
I can't see pc players coming back to Pvp without it
-
Exactly what I said yesterday!!! If a game with even less of player base Than d2 can do it so should bungie.
jk that requires effort and we can all tell by d2 that bungie doesn’t like putting effort into anythings
-
Dedicated Servers are a relatively expensive option and D2 continues to plummet in player numbers. this will never happen.
-
Dedicated servers would be a pretty expensive move for bungie, and on top of that, while they would be nice, wouldn't solve any problems. Lag in destiny 2 isn't as bad as in destiny 1. It has been pretty normal as compared to other peer based games I've played. Would you rather them waste time on a not as important issue such as ded-servers? Or would you rather them focus on repairing a struggling game whose problems boil down to actual game play design?
-
For honor >>>>>>>>>>> Destiny 2
-
Stop pretending like this will happen. It won't. It costs money, it will not happen
-
With dedicated servers being bored to tears by this awful game would be faster and smoother with better matchmaking
-
Edited by Enemy: 3/6/2018 6:33:35 PMWell it was a very serious problem for for honor Having to wait a minute for one kid to lag out before continuing was more of a detriment to the game than level 5 Shelly who is running on McDonalds WiFi and takes a couple of extra seconds to die I’d rather have a good game with Peer to Peer than a bad game with dedicated servers. So let Bungie work to make the game good
-
Yeah, just keep telling yourself that. Lol. It’s a nice thought but we’re talking about Bungie here.
-
Edited by SpamTheDamage: 3/6/2018 5:18:54 PMDidn’t for honor have notoriously bad connection problems? And that game is way more dead and unbalanced than D2.
-
Bungie: But dedicated servers cost money... How about new Eververst items, those are fun, right?
