SIVA was Criminally Underused

<SIVA is a... hold up here... SELF-ASSEMBLING, SELF-REPLICATING NANOTECHNOLOGY?! What the -blam!-!? That's like the most advanced thing besides the paracausal forces and the Vex! What the shit!? Why wasn't this used more? Oh right, the Splicers didn't know how. Well you know who does? The Warminds. Anyway. SIVA in Rise of Iron was built up as a sort of technological plague. It had spread like a virus and corrupted the land with tendrils covered in prisms making a buzzing sound. The Splicers used it both to improve their bodies, but it usually made them look like escaped science projects. While I think everyone understands that SIVA has a massive potential, I don't think they understand just HOW. To control SIVA, all you have to do is enter in a program to a batch. The batch will then proceed to execute that task. It will do whatever it takes to accomplish it. For example, the command it was given to kill the 9 Iron Lords that made it to the Replication Chamber was ~Replicate, Eliminate, Immunize~ So, the SIVA did what it had to do. It replicated, making hordes of nanites. It eliminated, by clouding up into groups and then splitting apart, aiming for the cracks in the armor of the Iron Lords. It then breached the skin and took control, even using an Iron Lord's body against another, in an attempt to kill the intruders. It immunized... it learned. What's interesting about SIVA is that, despite what we're told, it seems to... WANT. It seems to have some kind of mind on its own... perhaps because it learns.
I can feel the mites buzzing, pushing against my sub-mind. They try to steal fragments of memory, but I do not let them. They have no will, but they want to BE. I exert electronic will: pushing, shaping. Forcing stasis on perpetual motion. They are quiet then, but I can still sense them.
Do you know what's even better? It can create/recreate anything non-organic. I don't think anybody payed too much attention to the fact that Sepiks got VAPORIZED and then CAME BACK, FULLY FUNCTIONAL literally TEN SECONDS later. The Splicers were right. If used to its full potential, then SIVA can quite literally make you gods of the technological age. The power to create ANYTHING at ANYTIME. AND NOBODY USED IT. You can do SO MUCH with SIVA. Look at the water in the Replication chamber. It's RED. SIVA is crawling through it. It can infect WATER. The shields that every boss in WotM has are made with SIVA. Splicer Captain legs are made with SIVA. You can do more. You can replicate Cabal ships. You can let SIVA into your enemies' bloodstreams and control their movements. You can make entire cities in an hour. You can build ships in minutes. The Wrath of the Machine armor is MADE OF SIVA. We built armor with that stuff! You can do practically everything with it. If only the Splicers knew how to use the damn thing.>

 • I didn't care for the SIVA storyline at all. It was the same as D2's core story: "Hey, rather than explore the things about Destiny that were interesting, let's tweak the existing assets and cone up with something that doesn't require us to fix all our narrative hiccups. "
