HDR and Fullscreen no longer working after April 30th Windows Update

Hey all, after today's Windows Update (April 30th), Destiny 2 is no longer going to fullscreen mode no matter what I do. HDR as well is not working, screen goes weirdly bright instead of it's usual array of awesomeness. Tried adjusting resolutions, reinstalled latest Nvidia drivers (1080Ti), and it still refuses to go to fullscreen and stays in windowed fullscreen. Anyone else experiencing this? - Windows 10 64 bit - Intel i7 6700k - Zotac AMP Extreme GeForce GTX Nvidia 1080Ti - 64 Gigs of RAM - Monitor: Samsung 32" WQHD with Quantum Dot, HDR - Native Resolution: 2560 x 1440 @ 144Hz

  • Hello, Earlier this week Destiny 2 Hotfix 1.1.4.2 was deployed on PC-only, which was intended to fix an issue where some PC players were unable to launch Destiny 2 in full screen mode. Players who continue to encounter this specific issue after this hotfix should create a new thread in the #Help PC Support forum.

    • Just wanted to add have same sort of issue on my Laptop. MSI GS43VR 6RE Had a go at driver roll back to last version of Nvidia drivers and settings but under no circumstance could I get anything another than a blank screen in any window mode, got audio every time thou. Restoring my system prior to the April 30th Update also sorted me out for now, other games were fine on the 30th update just FYI.

      • Hello, Thank you for your report. We are currently investigating reported issues with desktop PC configurations after the recent Windows Update. In the meantime, players should note that laptop configurations are not officially supported, and players may experience a variety of issues when attempting to player Destiny 2 on a laptop PC. Any potential resolution of this specific issue may not result in a blanketing solution for laptop fullscreen issues.

          • Here's hoping that while they are at it, they will somehow get the stuttering after a prolonged session on one planet fixed.

          • I was unable to have the game in fullscreen or in borderless in till I did this. Right click "Destiny" application in the Destiny directory click on properties click on Compatibility (tab next to general) click the box for "Disable fullscreen optimizations" I think, dont know for sure, the "spring" Win10 update caused this. I hope this helps.

            • I fixed my issue by reverting back to driver version 391.35. It seems that the newest driver version 397.31 does not work well with the Windows 10 1803 version.

For those of you who have this problem and have rolled back but are feeling the time pressure, there is a way to delay the 1803 feature update for quite some time. Maybe by then some combination of Bungie/Microsoft will sort this nonsense out. https://www.computerworld.com/article/3232632/microsoft-windows/how-to-block-windows-10-april-2018-update-from-installing.html I feel lucky to have seen this yeaterday before I got the forced update so I'm delaying 1803 for as long as I can.

            • So only fix is to roll back the massive windows 10 update that rolled out this morning? Seems like a ridiculous solution...

            • The exact same thing is happening to me.. It just shows it in windowed, when you try and set it to full screen it goes into full screen but exits straight away. I hope they fix it.

            • I had the same exact problem. I decided to just roll back the windows update and the game allows me to use fullscreen again. Such a small update to windows should not have the ability to induce such a bug.

I am definitely on a desktop. And judging by system specs of the other posters, it looks like half of us are desktop users. Really hoping a fix is incoming (soon), as gsync is set to work on fullscreen mode for all of my other games.

            • Having the exact same issue. Worked absolutely fine last night. Didn't touch my computer, though it downloaded and installed the Windows Update, per the usual run time. Came back to my computer this morning - game still launches, but I hear music and am sitting at a black screen. Have tried to reinstall the game, repair files, update Windows... NOTHING. WORKS. - Windows 10 64 bit (just updated with the big 4/30 update) - GeForce GTX 980M card (driver - 397.31)

HP Envy 15-ce005np Laptop Intel i5 7300 HQ NVIDIA GeForce 1050 Same here. Before the 1803 Windows Update, I could run the game in Windowed Fullscreen. Now it won't run on any mode, deleting CVAR file didn't work as well, neither did scanning and repairing. I get this black screen, with the Destiny 2 music running in the background. The only two workarounds that seem to work are: 1) Running on integrated Intel 630 Graphics; 2) Connecting to an external HDMI screen/tv, and then plugging out.

            • Same issue. Right after the Feature update it forces Windowed/Borderless/Windowed Fullscreen. Anything but actual fullscreen. My specs: Windows 10 64 bit Intel i7 6700k GTX 970 32 GB DDR4 RAM With a 27" AOC AGON AG271UG 4K@60hz monitor. Worth noting is that the new windows update definitely -blam!-ed around with graphics drivers since they were completely stripped after restarting. Had to download and install the latest version again.

            • Same here. After Windows update to ver. 1803 both mine and my wife's game not working in fullscreen anymore (PC with Gtx1080). When I try to change to fullscreen it just reverts back to windowed mode. Windowed fullscreen indeed is the closest you can get, but for obvious reasons this is not an acceptable solution. Bungie, any data or comment on this?
