Other than the fact that light level is a bit more difficult to obtain, what exactly is inhibiting you from performing all of the same actions and activities that you were doing before?
The fact that the game's content has been tuned to make it more difficutl, and less rewarding at the same time. Power fantasy got increaesed in the last update...then got kicked in the crotch.
If you are not planning on doing raids, then what is the need for Max light level?
Power fantasy, and sense of progression/accomplishment. Especially in this game since there is no horizontal progression because of the fixed gear rolls.
Two of the raid events can be completed with minimal light level. I’m sorry to be rude man, but this is all just manufactured bullshit from the community.
Not everyone has access to 6 people to raid with. Either they haven't done the raids, and therefore can't get invited to play. Or they have limited time, and don't want to spent half of their play time trying to put a raid team together. And this is NOT "manufacatured bullshit". THIS IS WHAT A BROKEN PROGRESSION SYSTEM LOOKS LIKE, Synge. In fact, Bungie made the same mistake that Massive made with The Division in its first year. They were so focused on trying to slow down hardcore players...and micromanage what content got played...that they basically made the game inaccessible. If you had your own set of 4 people to play with every day, or had 4 to 5 hours a day to grind away in the Dark Zone...you could progress. The problem is that this basically ammounted to about 2% of the player base. Everyone else got put on a hamster wheel that went no where...they got frustrated and quit. Massive eventually fixed things...but not before the game crippled its own player base. What has changed, Synge is simple....and Bungie (to their credit) has owned up to it. They broke the middle game. In previous versions fo the game, the raid was the PINNACLE of the endgame. It was the way to get those last 20 or so power levels you needed to get to max power. If you didn't raid or play Trials those last 20 levels came very slowly...yet all the content BELOW that was still accessible and satisfyingly playable. Now...unless you raid, play Trials, or focus all your energy into levelling up ONE set of gear and only one...you hit brickwall coming out of the campaign after you've done all the weekly milestones....and if you do them and claim the drops BEFORE reaching 345. You're just -blam!-ed. So now there's this HUGE gulf beteen 345...and the 370 to do the raids...with NOTHING to cross them with. If you raid or do Trials....you're fine. You can get up to 18 gear drops Per Character per Week to bridge that gap. They have become an essential part of that "mid-game". But if youre a solo player...or can't get past the participation barriers to raiding or Trials...once agian you're -blam!-ed. You basically have NOTHING. Because NOW you only have access to FIVE gear drops per character per week...and that's to GET you to 370...... ...and then what, when you get there? You're -blam!-ed a THIRD time. This is really poor design of a progression system. The only saving grace for it is that Bungie has already acknowledged its a problem...and admitted that it was never intened to be a "final solution" of any sort. But an interim step to troubleshoot intended changes.

 • I’ll give you an example of tangible, gameplay related power fantasy I experienced in the first week, soloing to 348: The first week of modifiers for the heroic strike playlist featured solar burn. I had obtained an upgraded(higher light) Celestial nighthawk. I que’d into the Heroic strike playlist with some excellent randoms(one of which I recruited and raided with later), got to the end of the Arms Dealer. We killed Bracus Zahn before the elevator reached the top... This was a fight that had previously been fairly long and challenging, even before the changes to heroic strikes. Try it yourself. A part of that power fantasy was the fact that I had played that content before, giving me a significant reference point by which to judge how I had progressed. Even at lower light levels, there is plenty Power fantasy to be accessed. There is a longer grind now, Believe it or not even those who take part in cooperative play are hitting similar soft caps, they are just reaching higher light by taking part in MORE content. I’d think that you are wrong about horizontal progression as well. A weapon like the sleeper simulant(which can be obtained solo), is an incredibly powerful weapon that can be used in all content. You can dismiss all of this if it serves you, but time is one of the largest contributing factors to why I believe that this SOLO player controversy, is an erroneous way of thinking. It is only been two weeks. There is plenty of content in the game that doesn’t require max light level, or even high light level... As it stands one of the only activities that requires extreme light level is the new raid activity. I am baffled as to how someone so intelligent can rationalize that things have changed so much, to warrant another riot on these forums... It’s all just a toxic need for people to break off into factions, in war with each other. As far as I’m concerned it’s the same shit different day. Personally, I don’t need digital validation by way of me having light level that other people don’t have. I don’t care what level you are anyone else is, no matter how they play, solo or cooperative, or competitive for that matter. That’s why I made sure to say, if you have suggestions on what kind of endgame content could be added for solo players, I am 100% behind you, Anything else is just More mindless, divisive drivel littering these forums. Again, same shit different day.
