I see no reason to why we have forgotten how to channel our arc energy into a blade. Especially now the traveler is awake, our powers should be at an all time high? Not to mention the start of a new Golden Age? Has everyone in the game just forgotten that Hunters can do that? I mean I get game design-wise they wanted a balanced arc subclass for Hunters (blink and shade step I guess would be pretty good) but why is there no mention behind this? No explanation?
I mean Ana Bray is back from the dead with no explanation so idk wtf this story is any more
Lore wise. I dont know Development wise bungie hated bladedancers and did not want hunters to have blink

I don't think the guardians have forgotten the Bladedancer subclass, i think that all the Bladedancers are missing, along with all the Defenders and Sunsingers. My theory is that the Fallen have something to do with the missing guardians and abducted them while they were without their light.
i think bungie will reintroduce the 3 subclasses in 3rd DLC. Shitty i know, but cool lore wise.
As for the start of a new golden age, the reason the Traveler isn't doing that is because it's concerned with the coming of the Darkness and knows starting a new golden age won't help fend it off.

I still maintain that there was time travel involved. Suddenly things are different and no one is talking about it in-game? Alternate timeline!

Agreed. How did Hunters forget how to blink? How did Warlocks forget their ability to come back to life and throw grenades? How did Titans forget that they can project overshields outside of their bubble? Balance is how. That doesn’t mean we have to like it though.
