XB1X Shutting Down at Calus Void Room Prestige

Every time I reach Calus checkpoint I'm unable to progress pass this stage as my XB1X shuts down just as we first get teleported into the Void room. I don't believe it's the console because I've done a few tests and this is what I found. I checked air circulation and played a number of other 4K games no problem for various amounts of time, including many hours. I also tried switched from 4K to 1080p, and also tried disconnected my capture card and connecting direct to TV. I cold rebooted the console, unplugged power, and my fireteam also flew back to orbit and back again. I also tried equipping different gear. The console shuts down at the exact same point every time, just as we get teleported into the Void room as soon as I reach the first barrier it shuts the console down. There are no variances to this, it is always exactly as I reach the barrier (whether I try to jump the barrier to play the throne room or if I crouch to play the void the room - it's the exact same). This has happened quite a few times now, and as I say always at the exact same point and only on Prestige.

If it is exiting the game back to the Home page then it could directly be game related and there's no need to read further. Check back with BungieHLP and their thread. However, if the console is actually powering off completely, this is a protection protocol for overheating and is console/hardware related. The game cannot directly cause the console to shut down, but there are some raid locations that overtax the GPU, and sometimes the CPU, which can throw the console into protection mode if their related heat rises too far. If you have a Scorpio edition, these consoles were noted as having inadequate heat sink paste and putty in some batches. The heat can be reduced to half by replacing the putty and paste. Alternatively, some players bought 3rd party cooling fan add-ons and that helped. If you don't have a Scorpio, but is an early release edition, it may have been caught up in the same issue. If this is your issue, and you have warranty, I would be taking to MS about repair or replacement. If you don't have warranty any longer, and are tech savvy, you could replace the compounds yourself using some videos from YouTube.

  • Hello, Thank you for your report. Have you tried clearing the console's cache?
