• Wow! Just out of curiosity I read the comic. HOLY SMOKES!!! Talk about some wounded snowflakes. That was about as benign as I could see. Anyone who got offended at that is a very special snowflake indeed. Maybe you little whinny snowflakes need to turn your offended meters up a bit. If that offended you?, then move to the middle east or Russia. There was nothing about that comic that seemed forced. Bad writing maybe. But not forced. First there was the liberal snowflakes coming out about any social issues. Now we have the anti-SJW crowd crying like babies over pure nothing. Don't like something? Don't read it or watch it. Simple as that.

  • Define forced for me please. Did some higher up at Bungie tell the writers to make Ana gay or else? There isn't any "forced" diversity. This is the way Bungie chose to make THEIR character, so I am pretty sure that nobody forced them to make the decisions that they did on a game that THEY created. Forced Diversity.. That's comical...I guess playing this game or reading the comic is forced too right?
That’s how it should be. What you mean is diversity should be natural.
How exactly is anything natural in a made up story??? The only time you can ever get any kind of "natural" diversity is if it happens in fron of you, at random. Written literature, well it's never going to be natural. They have to think of how to write it, how to express it etc. The writers could have said something like " Ana alone in the field during nights like this, missed her beloved wife/gf Camrin even more" and not mentioned Camrin again and people would have still pointed out that it was "forced" diversity.

  • Like I said in another person's veiled homophobic post. How in the world is it "forced diversity" if Bungie, as a PRIVATE company, put it into THEIR game? You act like like the Democrats marched on Bungie and "forced" them to put the story in there in order supposedly brainwash the masses into accepting a gay character. If the story was bad then the story was bad but what you are doing is nothing but trying to intellectualize what, in reality, are just leftover caveman defense mechanisms. You see the Ana story as a threat to you and those like you so you make up terms that have no real meaning and then think that the rest of us are dumb enough to fall for it. There is no such thing as "forced diversity." Gay people are at most 2%-4% of society so if this is a business decision on Bungie's part which is meant to sell more games then they probably should have included monster truck rallies and reruns of The Dukes of Hazard and by your logic they would have made millions more in revenue.

Honestly, if it's one thing that's starting to get annoying, it's this conversation. I really do think you and everyone making a huge deal about diversity are just ruining it for the rest of us! Not enough diversity this Too much forced diversity that #iM nOt A hOmOpHObe/RaCIsT/Whatever the fck Let's talk about how the comics just aren't on par with the first generation of Grimoire cards. THAT was damn good writing imo. I was always immersed in it. Talk about something relevant to the story and lore. Ana Bray's diversity status is NOT important, so stop making it significant. She's a Lesbian, and her lover was featured; it's 2018, some artists are gay, so move on. Really gonna have to start reporting these now.

I watched "The Magicians" on Amazon Prime this week. I wasn't offended by any of the sex scenes or the bi-guy, because it wasn't forced onto me. It made sense, esp. when there is something like roman style sex-magic. lmao
Nowhere in here does it say diversity is bad. It’s when you make a character LGBTQ+ just for the sake of marketing and profit that it becomes a problem. It’s okay to have LGBTQ+ characters, as long as their entire character doesn’t revolve around them being LGBTQ+. They need to have development beyond that point. By this I mean not using that trait as a crutch.
Actually, her whole character doesnt revolve around her being a lesbian. Sure in the comics its the focal point but it has nothing to do with her character in the game. Through in game lore her history comes from being known as possibly one of the strongest/best gunslingers. In the actual campaign it focuses on her trying to find information to her past, from her connection to the bray family, their tech, rasputin, the fact that her sister "may" be the exo stranger and the fact that she was actually adopted into the Bray family vs being related through blood. Heck even in the trailer it tried to market her as this badass hunter kicking and dodging thralls, scaling icebergs with just knives, possibly having cybernetic enhancements via her eyes and rogue by saying she isnt great with rules. So really if you skipped the comics, you probably wouldnt have known she was a lesbian and known the other stuff that's actually mentioned in the game and shown in the trailer, which I'm sure recieved more marketing than the comic which probably was shared mostly amongst the community such as posts like these and outside the community vs bungie saying "hey everyone, even if you don't play destiny, we have a lgbt character in our comic! Check it out and buy the game!" In the comics it really focuses on why and how she ended up on mars and who she's fighting for aside from the usual "to save the world". Similar to how we found out why osiris left the city. Now I don't wanna copy pasta what everyone else has said and even you say you have nothing against LGBT people, however i still get this vibe that this post was made because she was LGBT and not just because she had poor writing. Heck i think Osiris didnt get this much attention for being lack luster as a character in game after all the back history in D1 and the comics.

        • ugh, AGAIN with post having a required watching. please post the main points of the video and how you agree/disagree with them next time. that being said, ima just say this: just read the comics, and i dont see a "forced diversity". Ana was searching for her past, she met someone who could help, and they became close. that relationship fuels her motivations further in a reasonable manner. how do i know that its not "forced diversity"? simple, suppose her love interest was a white man. did that change anything? nope. therefore, i have strong reason to believe that it is NOT "forced diversity".

          • Albus Dumbledore was gay. It wasn’t crammed into our faces or even directly mentioned in the books or movies. Nobody knew for sure until Rowling said he was on Twitter after fans asked. Nobody cared either except for a small minority of Christians (likely the same ones that hate the series since it’s about magic). That is natural diversity. Ana Bray is not.

            • Today, diversity means no white people, apparently. Currently, there are black college students actively segregating themselves from white people. One college had a black only dorm, and another had a black only graduation. Didn't they fight to end segregation? Why the -blam!- would they bring it back?

                • I feel like it wasn’t forced. It wasn’t really even mentioned much in the game. And no, often if they are straight, they are a large focal point. In most stories, characters have a love interest. Anyways, they do host and fund that pride parade in Seattle btw. Which I think is kinda cool. Basically, I don’t feel like it was forced.

                  • The only reason I “remember” Ana being gay is because apparently everyone has a problem with it. If people didn’t care, they wouldn’t make videos/posts like this. Pathetic.

I love this veiled bigotry stuff. FYI the reason companies are adding LGBTQ characters is to send a message that the prevailing homophobic rhetoric coming from the misogynist realm of gaming forums is not a reflection of the developers themselves. It's a message to this community and those that embrace them that bigots have no place in this or any other gaming community. Your criticism that this is her only character trait is ridiculous. While not a very well developed character, she is clearly impassioned, reckless, has problems with authority and a yearning to make a connection with her and her family's past. They didn't make her gay for no reason. They made her gay to send a message about inclusivity. If you don't like it play something else.
